They may ask you for a restriction certificate but thats pretty rare afaik.
All you need to do is get it restricted, doesnt make insurance cheaper, it just has to be. Had a chat with a couple of cops that came in to a dealership a few weeks ago, one of them was putting down a deposit on a K6 GSXR 600 whilst on duty
Anyway, they said they cant really do anything about 33bhp without carrying around a dyno with them in there car..
They were trying to guess which one of our bikes where restricted. They didnt belive mine was
He also said next time he stops me hell give me his old light cover
(There was about 4 of us and we had all seem them police for one reason or another ) ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

This thread got me thinking, so I have just googled and finally found out what the penalty for riding an unrestricted bike during your restricted period is.
No Jail.
Fine of max £1000.
Ban discretionary.
Points 3-6.
Interesting........ ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

if you wanted to be extra causiuos you could do what i did, get it restricted and then that night they fell out in my garage. This means i have a certificate so willhopefully be enough without the police striping it down if i gte caught, anyway only 11 months before its legal now and havnt had any probs so far, btw carol nash didnt ask for any proof whatsoever. |

Fair point simple..
Think you said your's pushes out 50odd bhp max so I can see why you have left them in as you are happy as it is, plus you save on the consumables etc.
I agree that its not about top speed and all that but you can't enjoy a modern day sportbike pushing out well over the 100bhp mark with a restrictor kit in, they are just not made for it.
Damn, just thinking how much I could have saved on petrol/pads and chains if they were in....... meh the fun beats all that ____________________ 2004 RSV Factory

I can't insure a sports bike,
besides its so much more rewarding running rings around people who cant ride their latest race rep all that well, it was great on a 125 with L plates, it's even better when they come and casually say:
them -'' that thing goes alright doesn't it?''
moi -''yeah - s'pose it does for a 33bhp twin''
I'll wait until my 33bhp is up (9months ) befor eI treat myself to something I haven't decided upon yet zx6r/r6/ honda 400 of sorts/sv650 mayb/DR400

restriction runs out Oct 07 (blast and dam).
I believe that a copy of the restriction goes to DVLA, and the installers keep a copy as well as the suppliers of the restriction kit.
Better be safe than sorry I suppose

Lifes too short for all these bullcrap restrictions. |
Might as well shove crack up me nose then if life is so short.
What id your involved in a spill and police investigations find bike is de-restricted, fat chance of insurance payout as well as points on liscence etc. |
What if, what if, what if....
If you want to live like that then fine, at the end of the day its not like your committing a murder. Of course there's a chance of a spill, read a fair few threads like this and not many bikes get sussed in this instance.
oh, and drugs are baaad mmmmmmkay ____________________ 2004 RSV Factory

Just bought a Yamaha fazer 600 which is being delivered this weekend hopefully.
I'm only 18, so if the bike is restricted that's fine with me, however if it isn't then i'm not paying out even more cash to cut the balls of the bike.
It's a risk i guess i'll take like many other young riders but if the goverment wants to restrict the bike then it can pay out for it as i certainly wont be doing so. |
