I had that too, and I'm on a full enclosure.

It's not a thick white wax any more, it's quite thin and covers nice.

The problem I found with chain wax is that it collects in your front sprocket cover, collects loads of little stones etc and turns into a really good grinding paste.

I'll stick to chain lube and use it sparingly, ta.

Your suppossed to spray it on a clean chain and let it dry

It was white when applied...but went yellow/green after a short time.

But it wont stop rust build up....you need to clean that off 1st.

used to use it but it made a mess, all yellow and looked shit, fitted a scottoiler to my new chain and it always looks clean and well lubed

White spirit and a toothbrush followed by Halfords spray-on grease does a great job for me. Aside from having to wipe off the swingarm from the white spirit, it comes up looking great.

I use Wurth dry chain lube, its supposed to be decent and ive had no probs so far apart from every time i take the bike to a garage they give it me back with the chain covered in Castrol Chain Wax saying your chain looked a bit dry mate so i lubed it for you Evil or Very Mad

Seems fine to me.

And yes its not a WD40 its a chain lubricant, i'm on my 2nd tin now.

The best way i find to lube my chain, is to lube it with ordinary gear oil first then spray it with the castrol wax as i find the wax to be a bit dry on it's own.

Also a good tool for cleaning your chain is them battery operated fairy power brushe's. iv still got the scar from when i nicked her one out the kitchen had my eye on it for age's. blamin the kids didnt work. Laughing

Holts chain lube, that stuff is amazing, comes out green an thickish then turns into liquidish and gets all over the chain, leave it an hour after spraying it and you have next to nothing flicking off the chain that stuff is a godsend.

Haven't tryed the new castrol stuff, the old stuff was utter bollocks though, i ended up using it to create campfires with its flammable contents.

I've started using Castrol 'Chain Spray O-R', its not as heavy as their chain wax and doesn't turn that green colour. Sick

It's also easier to clean off.

i certainly wouldn't use the stuff again. doesn't work terribly well. used it all the time and my chain still had rust spots on it. and thats cleanin the chain using a toothbrush and then another tooth brush to apply it. and then spraying it on and workin it in with a toothbrush aswell. highly unimpressed with it .

Putoline hi-tech ceramic wax is the shizzle you need. Very expensive for what it is, but it goes on evenly, and stays put, virtually no fling. It dries into a white paste almost instantly, but its nice and slippery.

That castrol stuff just turns to shit and stains your driveway really really bad.

I haven't tried the new stuff but the old stuff was crap. I now use Motul Factory Line, which I think is 10 times better than Castrol Chain Wax. It doesn't look a mess on your chain like the Castrol did and it seems to generally do a better job of actually lubricating your chain.

By the way if anyone wants to buy some unused cheap tins of Castrol Chain Wax then I have a small stock that is somewhat surplus to requirements...
