:: Sold my bike...got my dreamcar..

Wow didn't realize I have been away here for so long.

Well in the meantime my pristine GSX-R400R SP2 was sold. It had to go to make some room in my bank account.

After a 2 year search for a clean and well spec'd BMW e36 convertible, I found my dreamcar, full of options and in the right color.

So selling the bike wasn't that big a drama.

So here goes:

1996 BMW 328i convertible in Cosmosschwarz

- Black leather sports interior, with diagonal stitching on the doorcards and with integrated cargonets on the front seats rear's
- Climat Control
- Full OBC
- armrest
- passenger airbag
- fully electric hood (I couldn't imagine how cool it is)
- ACS+T
- Auto dimm mirror
- roll over system / rear headrests
- Skihatch
- BMW class 3 alarm
- Upgraded HiFi
- heated seats
- M-suspension
- M-tech front and rear bumper, moldings
- Electric and heated M3 mirrors
- boot brakelight (amazing how good it looks in some strange way)
- 18" MV2 wheels.
- DVD screens up front and in front headrests

And my 1st and only mod so far: fitted a ///Motorsport gearknob, with lit shift pattern.

I don't mean to piss on your parade, but I'm guessing the miles are fucking huuuge on that. You do know about BMW parts and that, don't you.... The costs involved put me off beemers. And other reasons which it's probably best not to go into.

I wouldn't worry about the running costs either. The only thing you need to be wary off is if the car has the Nikasil engine block.

PM me if you need any advice about the car as I have ran BMW's for years.

BMW parts aren't particularly expensive. They used to be, along with VW and Merc, but not now. And you can get good generic stuff anyway for most fixes. And there's enough in scrappies to scavenge off, all E36 3 series are virtually identical so most of it's interchangeable.

Must say though, interesting dream car, and old 4 seater convertible And why go for a left hand drive one? I like my 2.5 TDS but it's just a tool, dream cars come from Italy or America and have more than 6 cylinders.

It's got ASC+t so I doubt it would have a LSD.

Would steer clear of the evo because of Vanos worries (£2-3K bill).

The one to get is a 1995 3.0 M3. Tried to buy one last year but all the ones I looked at were dogs. Saying that the 328 is the next best choice, plenty powerful enough with a gorgeous silky smooth straight 6 cylinder lump and about a third cheaper to run than the M3.
