is it a oil pressure or an oil level light?
but as siggi says check your oil level in the sight glass and fill iy up if needs be

Hi
If the oil is particularly knackered then it might do it, but I would suspect it is a touch more serious. You could do with getting a proper oil pressure gauge on there to check what it really is (could just be the switch rather than a serious engine problem).
Had a similar problem with a GPZ500 years ago. O ring between the sump plate and the engine had gone resulting in low oil pressure. Killed the crank.
