My chain has got some tight spots, and now needs replacing. I am going to have a go at doing this myself, just looking for a bit of advice: how long is it likely to take to do this?
Am I looking at an hours work, half a day? I have no idea.

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Jim

If it has a split link, and either you have a chain cutter or the guy you buy the chain off is willing to cut it

With split link - maybe 10 mins

If your chain has a split link, remove the link, join the new chain to the old one with the original split link and then use the old one to pull the new one through. Take the old one off, join the new chain with the new split link, about ten minutes work.

If you don't have a split link, I reckon it'll take a novice a couple of hours (with the right tools, angle grinder and chain link tool).

Cheers

Yes, or you'll screw up your new chain in no time at all. Always change chain and sprockets as a set.

Cheers
