Im thinking i might get one cheap off ebay

currently in the running are art, mhp, 'green carbon can company','Carbon Can Company'

i am tending to think they are all the same so im judging on looks and price

is this wrong ?

Im thinking £50 max inc postage

A big Thumbs Up for MHP exhausts; well made, blah, blah.

I know Mark Hill and he's a genuine bloke that I'd trust, rather than the faceless companies of the others mentioned.
Would definitely choose it over the others mentioned.

However, in the end quality shouldn't really be an issue unless you crash, when it often is.

on the bike i'm getting today (cbr400), it is coming with the original exhaust, but has a scorpion exhaust fitted. what do i have to put down on the insurance? they ask-
exhaust no difference
exhaust up to 5% power increase
exhaust >5% power increase

Do you have race pipes aswell? Has the bike been jetted/mapped to suit the exhaust?

If the answer to both is no, put no increase. If yes to either, you need to know how much power increase it has given. I reckon it's probably no more than 5% anyway.

Hi

A race can is just a perforated tube with a but of packing around it. Not going to make a massive difference compared to a decent standard system (most bikes have decent stock systems, although there are exceptions like the 1200 Bandit). 5% would not be a bad gain just from a can.

All the best

Keith

Ive had a few different brands of exhaust myself, and ive fitted loads more. Id agree with kickstart that there shouldnt be much difference. Though saying that I fitted an akrapovic can to my mates KTM the other day and i was seriously impressed with the way it looked.
As much as you might not gain much power make sure your bike doesnt run lean when its fitted, and also dont forget the weight saving that youll almost certainly get from fitting a race can. Thumbs Up

i dont use all the power the 600 has. I wdnt be getting it for power gain, just to be anti-social and noisy.

I know sometimes ppl run ok without rejetting or changing fuel maps, but if necessary, Id just change the map with my tuneboy lead that reprograms the ecu.

just to make it tricky, a triumph race can has now come up on ebay. Id quite like it as its nice and sturdy and it may work best with the fuel map i'd be downloading which is designed for a triumph race can. The others finish first tho. Im guessing that the triumph will end up being more expensive.

damn, i missed out on the mhp as i didnt put a high enough max bid price on it

I wd have been willing to pay more than what it went for but hadnt reflected that in my max bid. Sad

I am now hoping the triumph will go cheap as no one with a kawasaki or bandit 1200, is gonna want a triumph can, but i suspect triumph fans will pay a lot more for the name.

If I dont get it for the price I want, I'll just wait for the next batch of cans.

The biggest difference I've found is the quality of fit and finish, as I haven't dynoed different makes on the same bike. Having said that, the quality of the second hand TSR system I had on my RVF made my current Yoshimura seem pretty a-level.

I have found Art to be crap build quality, Remus well built but heavy and ugly, Viper to be pretty average, Micron better and about the same as Yoshimura and Akrapovic to be very good. There are hundreds of other makes out there though.

Cheers

Grim

Carbon Can Co exhausts are very good. Notice a power increase even with teh baffle still in, also it is already loud with the baffle in. Smile
