A mate of mine is stuck for idea's for his next bike...

If you were.....

Full unrestricted bike licence
Plenty of years experience riding
£1000 to spend on just the bike

What would you get?

He wants something for evenings and weekends mainly, sporty but perhaps not a race rep....

£1000 isnt a lot of something sporty IMO, ive got together £2000 and still struggling a bit.

Erm, and old blade? old zx6r maybe, if you go older you should get something £1000 but nothing really sporty i can see that newish for that price. Maybe it would be worth saving a little more? just a thought Thumbs Up

You might be able to source a ratty or Ebay Thundercat for that money. Just about. Maybe. I'd try to get a badly sprayed bike off Ebay and then start sourcing original panels in his own time.

or buy this and return to standard with the remaining cash:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-SUZUKI-BANDIT-600-EASY-PROJECT-REPAIR-W-REG_W0QQitemZ190000369644QQcategoryZ9808QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or this:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CBR-400-project-NO-RESERVE-lovely-summer-project_W0QQitemZ4640042087QQcategoryZ9806QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or buy the first one and this:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/suzuki-bandit-lots-more-unfinished-project_W0QQitemZ4640328948QQcategoryZ9808QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and make one good out of two bad.

Cheers

Grim (bored at work)

Cool, I've emailed him the links, now just to try and convince him.

I'm going to push the ZXR I think, as I have one too, and lots of track bodywork for them. But that Marlboro YZF looks quite nice!

Thumbs Up

Grand is the limit I'm arfaid.

He likes sports bikes, Supermoto's etc...

I think he's worried that a 750+ is a little too big though.

I know you said about him being woriied bout 750+ being too big but what about an old CBR1000f?
Not too scary, good for lazy riding but can also make pretty good process if he wants to.

Just a thought...

Well, its not so much the power thing, but where he keeps the bike at night. Its quite tight to get into the garden down quite a tight alley. So has to be a smallish bike really.
