It has been recommended I get a rear hugger for the Kwak because the shock will eventually rot or something (common fault), do I take it, all huggers for bikes are after market and not supplied by the manufacturer?
How hard/easy are they to fit, does it require taking many things off?

Thanks

Killa

A rear hugger is invaluable for keeping your shock clean and shiny and working well. They are mostly aftermarket, the occasional one does surface from a manufacturer but very rarely, IME.

Try N.D.S, Powerbronze or Pyramid, they do most bikes between them.

Fitting a hugger can be fiddly and normally involves removing the standard chain guard but it's not too difficult.

Cheers

Should be easy to fit, only thing that may need taking off is the standard chainguard. Thoroughly recomended for pretty much any bike - not only lets the shock live longer, but makes a bit less mess of the backend.

I put one on mine, a Skidmarx one i think, and it did keep all the crap off the shock and the back of the swingarm.

It was a piece of cake to fit too, like the people have said above, remove the standard chain guard and it just bolts on

Some bikes come with them as standard, but if they don't it's unlikely the manufacturer makes one.

I put a Powerbronze hugger on my bike, and I was well impressed with it. Preferred it to the ones I've seen from Ermax, Pyramid and Skidmarx.

Here is the thread I posted just after I fitted mine (with pics).

Sure….

Hug: £9.99 + VAT

Optional pat on the back: £1.99

Go into your local bicycle shop, we have called Leisure lakes who sell more extreme biking kit.

Seems the Pyramid site sells for ZX7R, so does that mean it will fit all ‘P’ models?

Are those lizard skin thingys velcro or do you have to take the bolt off the top of the shock and slide it on? I remember having a lizard skin frame protector on my mountain bike, but that was to stop the chain marking the frame

i got mine of ebay but any decnnt bike shop should have them in,

you dont have to take the shock off, its got valcro on the sides,

here sum are here https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lizard-Skins-Fork-Boot-Black-Long_W0QQitemZ7242388065QQcategoryZ36135QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and the rear shock ones, although i would order 2 as most motorbikes shocks are to fat for only one cover, (they join to gether)

I would NEVER recommend 'SKIDMARX' to anyone again!!

3 different huggers i had, none of which fit and ALL were of very poor finish. I then had to wait 7 weeks for my money back Evil or Very Mad

N.W.S. or Pyramid plastics i would recommend...... NWS is better but slightly more expensive.
The ABS plastic ones are stronger than fibreglass and the finish is generally better.
