But remember you did leave yours sat outside un covered all winter, un used.
I've had one and no real problems as such yet, it spat a spark plud out, but i think this was due to the previous owner not putting them in tight enough, as i've replaced them all and not had a problem since.
It basically gets ridden like my old 50 did, redlined everywhere etc... Hasn't missed a beat.
I get 140km to reserve or 160 if i take it easy.
Parts are pretty cheap, and 400's arn't as bad as everyone makes out. |

£800, i think that is a bargain |

Zimma is correct!
Get a 6, the 4 isnt worth the hassle of finding a good bike that is gonna be 10+ years old. A good condition ZX6R can be gotten for pennies nowadays!
Given the choice I would have coughed up the stupid insurance hike that I would have had on another CBR600RR rather than own this RVF.
Looks can be deceiving, and although I am deadly sure the guy who owned it previous looked after it no-end I have found it to be a dog. Thing is as they are old you cannot judge the quality of them by looks or service history really.
He had next to no problems with the bike, and I have had nothing but. I bought it as a mint bike, which had been reliable, now it has gone the other way.
Last bike I ever by that is more than 4 years old. |
Strange not many people have bad things to say about rvf's, guess you got a lemon mate. That said ive seen 3 year old bikes looking and riding like shite as well. ____________________ Rvf400, 955i daytona, 954 fireblade, cbr1000rr fireblade 06 Hm plant |

newer don't mean better for a start they always release bikes in Beta form , and let riders piss about on them and find faults and issue recalls to fix the problems rather than develop the bike fully which'd cost them more R&D.
For less cynical people there is also new revolutionary parts and bits , they are new and revolutionary and not tried out enmasse.
The TL1000R widow maker was supposed to be hot shit , it wasn't there were many flaws tested out on the public.
that said there are bikes I'd avoid like bikes raped by couriers. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

400s are great bikes and you can have more fun on these than most big bikes. Most people on the big bikes can only go fast in a straight line they cant do corners makes me laugh my socks off.
If the bike you are looking at is a NC29 be aware that the second gear is a weak point on that model.
