i'm quite big on water, and personally start to feel really crap as soon as I begin to get even remotely dehydrated

in the peak of summer its not unusual for me to drink 8 litres a day if working hard

this past week ive been getting through 4 litres just at work

first thing in the morning i feel lousy, until i get a good few pint glasses of water down me and it starts to go through the system

so over to you, how much do you drink? do you suffer from bad problems if you dont drink?

do you take conscious notice of what colour your piss is? Razz

I rarely drink water, I live on Coke and the occasional glass of juice, but I think that's not doing too good for me so I'm starting to try and make a concious effort to increase my water consumption before I am a total coke fied. Evil or Very Mad

About 2 litres of water or squash a day. Occasional cup of tea, and a can of 7Up when I get a takeaway.

When at home I only drink water, at a guess I probably drink about 4 or 5 pints per day. Once in a blue moon I'll drink a fizzy drink like coke. However I can go for ages without having a drink and feel perfectly fine

As a tree surgeon I get a sweat on climbing trees in the winter and end up drinking 3 litres plus a day.

But in the summer I drip buckets of sweat feeding the chipper, let alone cutting limbs off trees. I usually drink about 6 litres otherwise I will get home with very bad headache.

Hi

Probably not enough. Suspect it is rare that I drink 2L of water in a day (rememeber that coke, tea, and coffee all contain caffiene and do not really count).

All the best

Keith

I drink about 4 cups of tea a day, and some milk if I have cereal for breakfast.

Hmm, maybe I should drink more, my mum used to be worried about me not drinking enough as a child.

I just don't get thirsty. Neutral

Why do people think drinking Tea constitutes to drinking water?

It's not and it is a diaretic. Hence it dehydrates you.

I try and get as much water in as possible.

I especially feel guilty after a night out drinking alcohol as it seems like i've just wasted all the water I had been taking in previously. Embarassed

What's with this compulsion with water? Fish piss in it, ffs Shocked

I suppose I don't drink enough water. Everybody I know drinks gallons of the stuff, lugging it back from the supermarket.

But my complexion is clear enough without it, and my digestion is fine with the amount of water I drink already. I don't need 8 pints of the stuff every day or whatever they so-called "recommend".

I prefer coffee. Intravenously for preference.

But I do try and drink juice to make up for my lack of vitamin intake.

I do like those strawberry Evian things, though Thumbs Up

Theres no real scientific evidence to suggest that gallons of water is really good for you so I really think it depends on the person as to how much they need.

I personally keep a sports bottle at hand that way I can fill it up when ever. I probably drink between 2 - 4 liters a day, especially when training.

It's a confusing matter.

Drinking lots of water is good. However I hate having to pee more often when drinking lots of water.

One problem I find is with the bike. Drinking bottles of water increases your concentration no-end, however, it is extremely annoying having to stop for a pee every 20 miles. Sad

tis very confusing, ive spent time feeling equally bad, being overhydrated as under

it does seem to be a careful balance, and some days i just never feel right no matter what the situation

but generally, if your piss is anything near yellow then you need to drink more, clear to very pale green is what you want, this is the guide i use anyway

and your body will pass any it doesnt use, so in theory you cant really drink too much, but will just piss often

im not preaching about water, its just personally, i need a lot of the stuff to feel ok

Drink copious amount's of Orange juice, a few litres, and perhaps a litre or two of water every day. Can go up when I'm out cycling in the heat of summer to 10 litre's a day.

I heard that you could kill yourself by drinking too much of any fluid.

Also, just found this on Ask Jeeves:

Can You Really Drink Too Much Water?

In a word, yes. Drinking too much water can lead to a condition known as water intoxication and to a related problem resulting from the dilution of sodium in the body, hyponatremia. Water intoxication is most commonly seen in infants under six months of age and sometimes in athletes. A baby can get water intoxication as a result of drinking several bottles of water a day or from drinking infant formula that has been diluted too much. Athletes can also suffer from water intoxication. Athletes sweat heavily, losing both water and electrolytes. Water intoxication and hyponatremia result when a dehydrated person drinks too much water without the accompanying electrolytes.
