 |

Today is a very sad day for me, firstly i just wrote this whole long post and deleted it by mistake but more importantly i went to the hospital for x-ray and talk to doctor and was told some home truths i didnt want to hear and didnt expect to hear.
I cant ride for 7 months minium from today he said "if you were my brother i want you to wait a year". This is bad as i tought it would be weeks and so did my family. Davo was coming to see a bike this sunday with me and i have to call the guy now and im putting it off and i will regreat it forever as that bike was sex and i showed the south-east lot when at yokos GFs and they all thought it was lovely.
It was a RVF400 with 8000 miles and was perfect, this bike is sex and cant believe it wont be mine ever as i was looking so forward to owning that bike the guys was also really nice over the phone and cant believe im going to have to let him down
I can drive 6 weeks from today so it the only way i can get around. I hate cars mainly because they bore the sh*t out of me and are expensive but im planning to go into full time work next year at some sort of office so this should be a problem. Also i know a guy that i was going to learn with and glad i will be as he understood 100% when i cancelled last minute to buy a RS125 and do my test.
So im not leaving bikes im just having a break for 7 months and then pick up a winter bargin as i will have the money for it then *cough* zx6r J model *cough* which is light at the end of the tunnel i guess .
My dads also hinting (as he was supporting me getting a bike but didnt like it, my intital reaction when i knew 7 months was to buy the RVF400 anyways and he said he would if i really wanted to, so to my dad) i can have my mums 206 as she wants to upgrade, course i would pay toward it but id get a good price.
So im not leaving, mearly taking a long break but its still sh*t. I got a year of fun which is one way of looking at it but i want many year more . Then again i almost died so maybe its not all bad anyways. I thought id come home and tell you all ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet

Just imagine how good it'll feel to eventually get back on a bike then. I hate driving our car but sometimes (like today) it's a necessity and I can't do anything about it.
You'll get back on a bike one day, just make sure you keep the damn thing upright
Cheers

Andy
I'm really sorry to hear this.
The best thing I can suggest is to use the fund money to get your car licence sorted out, bumble around for a year, earn a bit of money, enjoy the other finer points of being 18. (Wheres the get smashed smily)
If you can afford it, leave your RS125 insurance running a little while build up those invaluable no claims bonus, so come the time when you are able to get back on your bike, you'll have no trouble insuring that zx6r.
But chin up, most of the SE lot are on the end of the phone, theres no shame in turning up to Box Hill in the cage etc...
Best Wishes

You're not missing much mate.. it's almost June, it's cold windy and wet with no signs of brighting up just yet! Speed cameras everywhere, police always pulling people over every where ya go...
Just concentrate on getting better and maybe find some new hobbies to keep you busy until you can ride again.... very unlucky but just gotta keep thinking about the day you can ride again and do something useful with the time.... |

Hi
Ouch, that is a long delay.
Might be worth thinking about buying something to fiddle with. With a car you will have no problems transporting stuff around to be powder coated / polished. Might be worth doing for interests sake, and no doubt you will learn a lot from it (and it provides a bike to be insured on to keep building up no claims).
Good luck.
All the best

Thats shit mate i can imagine how crap it must have felt to call that guy up... Why not just buy a cheap project bike and work on that to keep the interest alive - make it mint till you can ride again!
Never been in that situation myself but were I forced to get a car for those kind of reasons I would probably do what I suggested! Plus gains you a load of knowledge along the way and gives you a sense of acheviement afterwards!

I've turned up to boxhill in cars before, either taking people that can't ride, popping in on the way back from elsewhere or because bike's not working.
It's a long time since I actually went to Boxhill for the riding, really.
Cars also make an excellent videoing platform . |

Same situation as me mate - got knocked off a month or so ago, wrote off the bike. I can't ride again for a good while, so I'm doing my car test now and then around November (my 18th) I'll try to get hold of another bike.
For now though I've bought a car, a little Suzuki, so at least it's still kind of bike-ish, even if it is only the same manufactuer Means I still have a use for the free suzuki stickers you get with bike mags
It's not so bad, just get the car, maybe tart it up a little (I enjoy customising things subtley, so I've put some alloys and a few stickers here and there on my car), but more importantly just keep looking forwards to getting your next bike As you've said, it gives you time to save up for one, so you can get a real nice buy at the end of the wait.
Chin up

Bad luck dude, that's horrible news. Chin up though, I know I have very little to say about cars on a positive note, but having a car licence is worth its weight in gold for some jobs.
Just concentrate on keeping that pelvis in good nick, and you'll be back on a bike before you know it. |

Lotus Exige as a first car? Bit hopeful int it mate?
Really gutted for you mate, but like Kickstart and Dark have said a project bike could be just the thing.
I'm 4/5 months into mine and still not done! Didn't even take time to really do it properly either due to LACK of time.
Honestly a battered to f**k SV650 could be just the thing you need to keep you busy, there's ALWAYS things you can be doing to play with it.
Best of luck,
