You can pay by credit card here;

https://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application;JSESSIONID_EvlPortalApp=ExcPLE41VXpPSpsu8pXhVo3j13REQDbfOMT06yIHSbPB1qDz7LPg!1207994913!1366702243?origin=vnav_bar.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=Apply+for+a+tax+disc+NOW

Usually arrived within the week and saves queuing with miserable pensioners. Thumbs Up

If you use a proper hole in the wall machine outside a bank, or one of the royal bank machines which are outside somewhere like tescos, it's usually free to take cash out.

If you use a machine like they have in motorway services, you can be charged something like £1.75 for the priveledge of accessing your cash.

It says on the screen before you start - "This machine will charge you £1.50 for cash withdrawls", or if it's free - "This machine will not charge you for cash withdrawls"

Most credit card companies will charge an arm and a leg in interest for cash withdrawls and the post office does not accept credit cards as far as I know only debit cards.

If your going to do it that way, it'd be cheaper (marginally) to use a credit card cheque.

All credit card companies will charge an extorniate amount for cash withdrawals, mine charges 2% cash withdrawl fee and 29.9% APR on the cash withdrawal, however their also very sneaky in that money paid off on the card is usually applied to any lower rate balance (e.g. balance transfers or normal card transactions) e.g. leaving the cash withdrawal building up interest.

If you can, borrow the money from else where, it'll be much cheaper.
