As some of you know, I worked in childcare (lots of pressure, cr*ppy pay)
Decided to totally leave that field
But how do you with no experience ?

Anyway.. my partner works in I.T. with a council
Said they had vacancies, got me a form

Had an interview yesterday
Asked about my computer knowledge, typing etc... I did a short typing test
She called me at 8.30am !! Shocked this morning to offer me work
I start 3 days after I leave the job I am in now
Cool Cool

The pay is quite good, more then I am on now (I am currently a Playgroup Deputy Manager ) to answer phones, or £7+ to sit at a pc
Easy work, AND you can dictate the hours and days you work
I am doing 9.15am-ish to 2.45pm-ish

Really happy
A bit daunting to have A COMPLETE CHANGE though
Shocked
Maybe I will find my calling..

All I know is kids are evil Twisted Evil

Well played. Glad it's worked out for you, you seemed miserable in the last job!!!!!

Since you're on a role, go find me a plumbing apprenticeship in scotland. Mr. Green

I can't believe how flexible employers are these days !
She said..to quote "we are grateful for any hours you can squeeze in"

I didn't really think I had a chance, but I just told her that I use a pc as a hobby, am familiar with stuff, and tried to link in with my current job.. I write newsletters on the pc.. use excel to track stuff etc...

I have always wanted an office job

Will probably be stuffy, depressing and boring Very Happy

I'll be back in a month saying how sh*te it is
ha Laughing

Congrats Jod.
Never would have doubted your inner strength and vitality would get you through.

I know the typing test they do, it's the same sort of rubbish North Lanarkshire Council put on my Poll Tax demands. Laughing

But the kids will cry when you leave Crying or Very sad

I've trained a young guy, who came to work at my firm, no prior IT experience, just a hobby (his aunt worked at my work...).

Anyway after 2 years, he doubled his sh**y trainee salary that my firm offerred him and now has a full career in IT.

Previously he'd been working at the local shop.

So he got lucky so can you.

Go on every training course they offer and find someone willing to show you the ropes, I would typicaly say in my environment, you wouldn't be productive for at least 6 months. But thats my firm.
