After spending the last couple of years blowing all my money on bikes, the house, camera gear and lager, I decided it was finally time to upgrade my ageing Escort GTI.

Whereas I could afford something pretty decent performance wise, I didn't want a money-eating car that was going to cost a fortune to run (Evo etc). So I've gone for a mixture of semi-decent performance (for a car), luxuries (read: gadgets) and age.

Enter this 2004 Ford Focus ST170, with 10k miles on the clock and the following extras:

Heated leather Recaros
Full climate control (over the usual aircon)
Heated front screen and mirrors
Xenon headlights
Electronic Stability Programme
6-CD indash changer with factory fitted sub
Metallic paint

That's around £3500 worth of extras from new, so it was just over £20,000 out of the factory and I've picked it up half price so I'm pretty chuffed.

Yep, 3 and 5 door options. Three door looks better, but it's a pain in the arse to put stuff in the back, carry passengers etc IMO.

Two bikes, a car, a house and a girlfriend... all expensive! Laughing

Yeah, it was through a dealer. Got lucky really, because they advertised it really poorly. The advert banged on about all the standard stuff (who would mention "Head restraints" in an advert??) and hardly mentioned the extras.

WooHoo a new car thread. Picked it up the other week.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/flattyman/accordfront1.jpg

Accord Type-S Tourer. 190 bhp, 6 gears Mr. Green , dual climate control (just in case the passenger wants a different temp Confused ), cruise control, powered tailgate, half leather, traction control etc etc.

Now have 1 house, 2 cars (got the calibra on classic insurance. Thumbs Up ) 2 bikes and 1 bird. Might trade the last one in for a newer model though. Very Happy

My new cars coming along nicely.

I upgraded the front door speakers to 180w(30rms) kenwoods.
Brakes have been done, the thing actually stops quite well now.
The engine bay is totally spotless, few bits polished/repainted.

Still have to replace the rear speakers, and add 2 13cm speakers, and 2 6x9's on the rear shelf. dont think im going to worry about a sub, after all i want to enjoy my music, not force other people to listen to it Laughing

Other than that im going to keep it a tidy, standard looking car. Everything im doing can be put back to standard if i choose to sell it anyway.

Tut Tut

You still have a lot to learn young padawan.

A sub transforms the music to a whole new level. I used to have a 12'' sub in the boot and it made me laugh for a week everytime I turned on the stereo. The sound quality, depth of note and just guts of the sound is awesome.

Forget the chav 16 x 9 in the parcel shelf, get a sub Thumbs Up
