hmm, wondring what i should do here.
im starting a 4 year DML marine apprenticeship in september, but want a job to do until then, i wouldnt mind so much if unemployment wasnt so BORING
all my friends are either at college, uni or working, so ive got nothing to do but lounge around waiting for the weekend.
i was working as a snowboarding instructor at the plymouth dry slope, but there the hours are few and far between.
my first thought was barwork, but im not too sure.
2nd was some sort of motorbike repair shop, because im a dab hand with the ol' bike 'n spanner
i want to do something that has some sort of physical and social element to it, not too keen on the laborer thing.
anyone got any job ideas? its about time i got off my arse ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. you don't want to be riding then, it may bore you(TheDonUk does courier related, consult him ), try a completely different kettle of fish than usual, will give you a taster of what you do/don't like ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. I think you dreaming tbh.
I was a lifegaurd when i was 16-17 and was great, was a private pool which no one came in and got to bring my laptop in and use their wireless internet (being a hotel and all)
However, no i do bar work when im not at uni which is ok. I relised i would never get a job like the one i had before as when you 18 they are few and far between.
Just count yourself lucky you have 2 good jobs at this age and go do a normal job, like delivery or bar work esp since its only for 6months ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

^^ What he said.
I used to love my job as a shelf stacker in Kwik Save and it has been the only job I genuinely loved. I only left because it's not something I could make a career of. The people were great, the job kept you fit and you got home at the end of the night feeling like you had earned your money.
If I could earn what I earn now doing it, I would go back to Kwik Save at the drop of a hat. |

thanks for the replies everyone (except craigie, he should go start a shelf stackers society if he loves them so much).
i think im going to go for either the delivery one or the barwork.
im going to see if theres anymore work at the ol ski centre first, because the pay wasnt bad there. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Best to avoid the pizza or courier work...
Unlikely that tesco's are going to give an 18 year old a delivery van with insurance... they might, but i would guess not...
Best of with bar work if you can deal with drunks or shelf stacking tbh...
Personally i have more respect for a shelf stacker than someone who is handed everything they want... Its honest work, alright not glamorous, but welcome to the real world mate, get used to it |

who said anything about immigrants? and why is it wrong for me to not want to stack shelves?
oh, im sorry, because i consider myself superior, thats right
i dont want to stack shelves because its not work that interests me. nothing against shelf stackers, one of my friends is one.
i like my job to have meaning, which is why i dont want to settle for something like that, is it really that wrong to set my sights high? because so far ive done quite well.
how many people do you know who have a pension scheme at 18?
so i think im quite justified to want a job im going to enjoy. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. There's almost no chance of getting a wonderful, fulfilling, interesting job at 18, never mind at any later stage.
Just get some experience in, it doesn't matter what it's in as long as you get paid and have something to put on your CV.
Otherwise you'll end up finding a job you really want to do, but not having the relevant experience to be employed. ____________________ the warped one: This is a follow up from the thread 'my willy hurts' |
