Right, after a torque wrench & have about £40 for one but want one that'll benefit me most as i understand some do lower torquing & others, higher. Basically worried about over doing the sump plug when i'm draining the oil. Will i need £40 for this or will a cheap one do it.
I don't go deep into the bike so this is the only thing i'd be torquing really.

Yes, i know alot of you don't need one for the oil but i've heard that if you do end up stripping it, you need a whole new oil pan.

One other things, will the Halfords 55 piece set suit me, as i don't know if i'd actually use the 150 set?

Thumbs Up

I've never used a torque wrench on a sump plug - just do it up tight then 'nip' it a bit tighter.

I'm about to do an oil change on mine, as well as clean and adjust my chain. Like I said before, you're welcome to come and do yours at the same time.

It sounds like the 150 piece set is a bit of overkill if you're only going to adjust your chain and change your oil. Just get the bits needed for those.

Ah right, can i use some of this Loctite i hear about just incase.
Would like to come over but my waiting on my chain & sprockets so shouldn't really be riding, much Smile. I'll give it a shot anyway.

55 piece it is then, even tho i'll only use a few it'll be nice for the future i suppose, once i start doing more.

Whilst i'm on this topic, what brake fluid would my bike use as i found a link but then it stated if my bike was a dot1,2,3 etc.
It's a 2003 ninja B1

Would this need to be done anyway, only had it done a couple of months back, the service manual is saying every 2 years?

You might find the higher torque one a bit more useful, for example the rear axle nut is a pretty beefy torque, and that's going to be a common one, for adjusting the chain.

I'm getting the shop to fit the new chain so won't be adjusting it for a while, i will get the higher torque wrench but for now the lower will do me for servicing the bike.
Does anyone know where i can find a gapping tool for sparkplugs, or anything i can use, pretty hard to judge a 0.8mm gap. Smile

Cheers Joe, Big_ham yes, i think it's also called a gapping tool.

Now my coolant level is just getting past 'low', can you top it up with more coolant/anti-freeze even if it's a different brand or will i need to flush the old one out then top up?

Thumbs Up

It will probably need adjusting more in the first few hundred miles than when its settled down. Should be checked every week minimum anyway. Wink

Good point, but i suppose it won't be worse then what my chain was/is, even if it's not adjusted & i dread to think how long i've been riding like that.
