How is a front paddock stand meant to sit underneath the front forks?

Everytime I try raising the bike with the stand in the right place (according to my mind) it keeps coming close to sliding off the prong that sits under the fork, just keeps sliding forwards.

Im really confused, if anyone could tell me where the prongs are meant to sit on the fork or show me a diagram id greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Heres an image of a similar paddock stand

On that style of stand, one prong should go under the fork bottom, the other behind it....

Like this very dodgy picture ive done Laughing

You can also get ones with prongs to locate into the holes in the bottom of some forks, or those that fix to the steering tube and allow the forks to be removed completely.

Personally i use a Abba stand which lifts the bike from the engine mountings in the frame as its the most stable solution and a doddle to do by yourself.

Thats how I keep trying to lift the front wheel but the stand keeps turning allowing the forks to slide till the bottum prong is about to slide off the back of the fork, which would cause the bike to fall.

Thats why I thought I must be doing something wrong.

Are the pronged parts sided. You may have them on the wrong sides.

note the front spigot is higher then the back one in this picture. They are bit of a bugger to operate and never feel 100% secure. get a couple of mates to hold a handlebar each if you feel uncertain the first time.

This is what happened to my nc30 when mine "fell off ". Confused

Two of us to lift it up and one to put the stand back under..... Aint using the front stand on the gsxr, i rather buy an abba stand instead .... not taking the risk again !

Before :

I cut the prong things off mine and welded a socket on each side that was the right size to plug into my front spindle. Never liked the idea of them prongs.
