I can't stop chuckling at this one!

On the way to work this morning I had to go through a junction that involves 2 sets of lights 50m's apart then a tight right hander. I know when the 1st set of lights change to green, the 2nd take a short while before also changing - so I always set off slowly and time it so I don't need to stop again at the 2nd set, besides which the right hander after is a bugger due to a crappy road surface and those metal studs they put in the road.

Anyway, this morning I come to a stop in the right hand lane at the front. Then a biker comes from behind me and slots into the left lane at the front. He's on an off roader, bright orange with the gear to match and constantly revving it up with an extra loud can attached! Now I don't race on my bike, main reason is it's only a 125 - I don't think I even look like someone who'd ride fast due to all my waterproof gear and the topbox on the back!

1st set of lights change and he's off, big wheelie, lots of noise - cue me thinking "What a wanker...!", then he gets to the 2nd set of lights stops and stalls! I've done my usual slow start off, so go through the 2nd set past him, round the tight bend and I'm off.
At this point I'm also pissing myself and thinking - Karma !! Laughing Laughing

He ripped past me a little later on whilst I was waiting to do a 2nd right turn, but that has just made my day. So Thumbs Up to whoever you were!

You get that a lot in city centre riding.
Like you i always laugh at them sat at the lights reving away, shooting off only to catch them at the next set doing exactly the same, while you just roll up and keep a steady pace.
Best bit is they dare not look at you when you shout Hi to them Laughing

Sounds like there is something wrong with his bike and he was trying to stop it stalling by revving it...

Well maybe I should not laugh at this but a local ped-boi went head to head with a double decker bus outside our church last night. (before I go any further he got straight up and was fine).

Bus turned right at a junction crossing the white line as they have to. Ped-boi going to fast in the wet, clipped the wing directly in front of the driver BANG.

Ped's handle bars bent to buggery, front fairings wiped out. Ped-boi thrown (luckily) onto road not into bus. Bless him he had some gear on.

Too fast, not paying attention. Bus 1 / Ped 0.

does no one else like popping the odd wheelie between lights then?
Its not lack or planning or anything, just for fun really. breaks up the commute a bit.

My fun is timing the light changes so i don't have to stop, also has the added bonus of making all the cages have to go slow rather than race to the lights Laughing

Best is when they manage to get passed you and you just roll upto the lights and keep going passed them while they are trying to set off, only to slow down ready for the next set. Shocked

A good run is being able to get to work without having to stop and put my feet down.
If you want to pop that wheelie, feel free to do so Karma Just not my idea of fun, but then again i'm a boring old git Laughing

What - showing off, looking like a chavvy immature prick who lacks any road sense? No, not for me really...

That's my personal opinion of course! Wink

Wow, I bet you're just the life and soul of every party you go to huh?
I'd find much more enjoyment out of whizzing through cars, popping wheelies making lots of noise and generally being antisocial than timing traffic light changes. But I guess motorbiking means lots of different things to lots of different people, and if you just see it as an easy commute then there's no problem with that Thumbs Up
However much you may laugh at the wheelieing crosser rider, I bet he had the bigger smile on his face at the end of his journey Smile

Lol, me after seeing him stall and get stuck behind. Laughing

Him after arriving at work wishing he hadn't stalled when the slow rider overtook him. Embarassed

Nah, I reckon I had the bigger smile! Twisted Evil

Parties, whats one of them Rolling Eyes Laughing

Sorry don't do fun Karma

Bike is a tool to get from A2B, and a great one on my commute. Yea, i enjoy it. But can't see the point in poping wheelies and the KD lark on the road.
If you want to do so get off the road onto the tracks or proper off road biking in the dirt. Now that is FUN Mr. Green

Like Beanfeast, the crosser guy will have been as sick as owt stalling and being passed by a Cg at the next set of lights. Bet he never cracked a smile like Beanfeast did Laughing

An orange crosser sounds very much like ktm to me, which are normally geared very low and makes it hard to keep the front wheel off the floor.

My drz sometimes cuts outs when i come to a stop and click down on the gears, and so does my dads old honda xlr250, must be a 4t crosser problem ? Although on my drz i dont sit there revving it, I sometimes do a bit on the honda but thats because when it cuts out i need to kick start it.

Nice story though Wink
