Hi

Can any bods suggest any causes for my bike stalling when I knock it in gear?
, Starts fine...idles fine...but as soon as I try to knock it into first (with the clutch lever pulled in) it stops dead like i've hit the kill switch (which i haven't Smile)
Its been standing for 36 hours and it got rained on a bit.
Could the clutch be gummed. Any thing I can try to find the cause & then fix?? I have tried giving it a good kicking.no joy.

any help is much appreciated

Cheers getafix

Is your side stand down ??

My bikes engine will switch off if you stick it in gear with the side stand down

Does it jump as if you have stalled? If so then probably a slack clutch cable or something. If it just cuts out then it will most likely be the side stand switch playing up.

Another vote for side stand switch. Check that nothing is gummed up stopping it from going in.
More likely though after saying it's after rain, is that you have a bad connection somewhere that is shorting out or something.

Might be worth spraying a bit of WD40 around.

Only noticed it had a kill switch yesterday, thought I just kept stalling when I parked! Would def have a look at that first.

Don't suppose you have a manual for yours? Or any chance you can take a quick look at my thread here?

everyone who voted for the side stand switch give yourself a pat on the back.
I didn't even know there was a side stand switch. thanks for enlightening me.
shorted the switch out back in the connector compartment and things are now working good again. Thanks
Any negative consequences to the electrics system if I leave it shorted until i can investigate the switch & fix properly?
And any suggestions for fixing the switch properly are gratefully recieved?

& tek monkey I'll take a look at your post now

full power to you
