I have found it increasingly hard to start my bike because of my lock. It takes me 5 - 10 minutes of going up and down with they key until it 'clicks' into the right spot and the key turns. Is there anything I can do or does it look like a new lock jobby?

sounds like either your ignition or key are really worn and in need of replacement, but try putting the key in and tilting it back slightly as you turn, might save a bit of time in the mornings!

What bike is it? Suzuki ignition locks wear pretty easily, but there is a knack to getting them to turn. Simply push the key forwards slightly as you turn and it will go easily.

Agreed. The key on my 04 SV needs to be inserted then tilted forwards by a few millimetres before it turns.

Caused a few puzzled moments after buying it. Rolling Eyes Mr. Green

On my YBR a squirt of WD40 in the barrel helps with this sort of issue. Not sure how well it would work on other bikes. Thumbs Up

My Firestorm does this every few months. I squirt a bit of brake cleaner into the barrel first then I spray some good old WD40 when it's dried out. The brake cleaner gets rid of any filth and the WD lubes the tumblers. Smile

Put the key in and work it all around for a bit until the motion is smooth. Thumbs Up

Useful info guys, my key is just starting to get this way so I might give it a go before it gets worse!
