How long does it take to run a car battery down?

I'm not bothered if the car wont start after, we can just jump it Smile

But the field is quite a bit away from houses so there's no electric.

Depends how loud and what system you got.

I'd say 6-7 hours tops.

It depends on your ICE system (and the car/battery size), some systems are pretty thirsty for power if you have lots of subs etc ... but if it is all standard then it'll last longer than you can keep drinkin'/dancin' Very Happy

Also depends on the battery, how well it holds its charge, whether he will start the engine periodically to recharge it, the ambient temperature, if interior car lights are also on, whether the headlights are on etc etc etc

If your alt. can't charge the battery at idle with nothing running (headlights etc.) then its fecked.

Also the power required to start the engine would require running the engine for some time to replenish.

As to how long the battery lasts, as said, there are far to many variables to make an accurate guess.

Most cars these days have a timeout on the radio when the ignition is switched to "Acc", so you'll be resetting it every 20-30 mins anyway. Unless you were planning on leaving the ignition on? In which case you will probably fry your coil(s) and end up with a dead car in the middle of a field.

Get yourself a rasta blaster with huge batteries.

Hello, from a few years back. Volvo 940 Turbo. Big battery. Pioneer headunit, Sony crossover. 100w amp front, 240w amp rear, 300w amp driving twin coil 12" sub. 20 min at loud was all the battery would last, and the battery was not old. Park on a hill.

Had my Polo's stereo going for 6 hours before and the car still started fine afterwards. That is with standard speakers, JVC MP3 headunit, and Halfords 50w underseat sub. Newish battery too. Your mileage may vary.
