The original thread I made when I did this was shite, as it was mostly me rambling along and a bit of guess work. I have since successfully derestricted my bike, so it's about time i made a better, clearer post about the subject, as the qustion crops up quite often.

The basic's of it are that you need to remove the fuel tank and airbox of your bike, to get to the carbs. How you do this depends on your bike, so get a Haynes and figure that part out for yourself!

Once you do that, you should see something like this;
https://img393.imageshack.us/img393/564/restrictorsjc9.jpg
These are the slides in the carb. They are not restrictors (I thought they were too at first. D'oh).

https://img172.imageshack.us/img172/2674/1004843v2tp3.jpg
There will be a washer in between each carb and the cylinder head, inside the carb rubbers. You will need to undo the clamps holding the rubbers onto the head so you can lift the carbs up. I lifted the carbs and rubbers off the engine and then stuck the end of a 1/4" extension bar into the hole in each washer and gently levered them out of the carb rubbers. Easy peasy. It worked fine on my bike, but be careful not to damage or split the carb rubbers! (Getting the washer back in this way would be a real pain in the arse, so be sure before you do this.)

https://img512.imageshack.us/img512/1551/1004900za3.jpg
These are the "carb cap" part of the restriction that is mentioned on the FI International certificates.. They sit under the carbtops but ontop of the rubber diaphragm. They stop it (and thus the carb slide and needle) from lifting up / opening up fully.

I didn't know about these (Because there is bugger all information about derestriction on the internet!). I only found out when I had the bike service and the mechanic mentioned it and asked if I wanted the job doing properly. He took them out for £20 under the counter. Thumbs Up

Be careful taking these out, because the diaphragms are very delicate and can tear. (Or so I was told. Didn't do this part myself, so couldn't say.)

Note: No doubt I'll have made some typo's in there somewhere, or something won't be quite explained clearly etc. If so, let me in here or by PM and i'll edit it!

Hope this helps!

Also, to be aware, not all bikes have the rubber parts. Razz

My Hornet didn't. It jsut had the washers in. And it was definately full power after that Wink

Cheers for clearing that up for me Thumbs Up I removed my own washers but was always curious as to what the 'carb caps' were, dont think my bike (CBR600F) had them but had heard of them being mentioned on other bikes.

Edit: Ah sh*t, it appears this IS a cbr600 Embarassed although mine was a 95'....according to your origional de-restriction thread it uses a different engine? If the washers were out but the caps in, do you have any idea what power it would make roughly? I pinned it to just over 150 (on the speedo Rolling Eyes ) so im guessing it didnt have caps, but curious, if it could still make 80 odd bhp with the caps in I guess its possible?

If you hit over 150, i'd say it was making full power. Mechanic saying my bike would only be making about 50~60bhp.

Also, they're hard plastic, not rubber. Just to clear that up Smile

I would put a bet on that most people on restricted licences couldn't afford a brand new bike that's using FI Rolling Eyes

You can't be suggesting your pitbike is more pimp than an LC? Confused Shocked

That would require a power level over 9000

LC = Liquid Cooled?

Erm, My TZR125 2 stroke engine is Liquid cooled. Its also 26bhp. Which is 19bhp more than the standard pit bike engine.

Have you guys really restricted that kwak and the suzuki to 33bhp???
I'd love to pull up next to you at the lights, probably the only time my 400 would beat a 1000cc+ bike!
(you do realise chav's in tuned hatchbacks will be so smug with themselves if they think they've just smoked one of your bikes)

Either way that thing looks pretty damn fun.
