What a shite day i'm having! just thought i'd go check the 2smoke oil, chain tension, gearbox oil, etc etc on my NSR - and i cant see anything at all in the gearbox measurement window thing! (max/min level) Had the bike just over a week, and it had a service when i bought it (book was stamped). i bet the tossers forgot to put gearbox oil in. They will hear what i think about their servicing in the morning
Is there any chance there will be damage to the gearbox? and do i just buy standard 10w 40 to fill it up with?
Thanks alot,
Lee |

Your not checking it while its on its side stand are you?
The bike needs to be level, also if its fresh oil expect it to be clean so dont expect to be looking for black stuff. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

Start the bike for a minute to warm it up. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

You are having a confusing day arent you mate!
On my NSR, (H Reg RK Model, so may be different) i can unscrew the cap off the top and see inside it, and i can see my oil and its half way up the minimum and max level.
Could be different on yours, see if you can peek inside?
Good Luck |

Cold oil is more viscous though, which could be misleading... ____________________ TiN

i took my NSR to White Bros in darlington for its first service at 600Miles (now at 1010ish) when it came back, it was in shit state. Oily prints everywhere, brake fluid dripping from the front resevoir, front brakes 'squidgey' back brakes shite. half the amount of 2stroke oil i handed to them, no (NO) gear box oil, they had drained it to fill it up, and then not topped it back up. useless bunch o' wazzocks.
If/when you take it back let me know what they say about damage / wear / reasons for lack of oil. ____________________ Dreams will get you nowhere, a good kick up the arse will take you a long way.

Lee, did you happen to be in Mission today, while someone buying indicators?
You bought a bottle of Silkolene oil, IIRC, "without my help!", said the guy who kindly opened upstairs.
/me pets new Micro Oval indicators ____________________ Not here... |

nope not today although i might have to nip up there tomorrow and see if they feel like chopping my exhaust in half, filing the restrictor ring off and welding it back together Would try it myself but i've never welded anything, and would probably end up welding my head to the can or something lol and i cant find anywhere round here that will do it
Speaking of indicators, which ones did you buy? and do they work without changing relays etc etc? I bought some mini motrax indicators to replace the standard nsr lamp posts and the bulbs are 23W, so they dont work and i cant find 10W bulbs in that shape anywhere
If yours work ok, could you tell me the details? these huge indicators are annoying me so much
Cheers! & hope to see you up mission soon
Lee
BTW did mission give you a quote to repair the damage? or are you going to do it yourself? |

Ah, wasn't you... just a stroke of luck, some guy with a black NSR (the one with NSR in red text on the side, which has been burning about Bletchley alot recently) was in there, buying gearbox oil.
Not put the flashers on yet, but I got the Motrax Micro Oval (Black/Amber), for £14.95 a pair, not too shabby, look good on a 'cat in carbon fibre/white . Should look nice on my bike, hopefully. Either way, they're a LOT nicer then the standard bricks that are on there at the mo .
Although I've just checked, and they seem to need the universal side thingy so they fit in the big hole... Not sure about the relay, I was hoping someone else knew .
Damage... £500+ from Grafton Honda, and Mission are booked until the end of September, so the work will be done by me and Ryan, with the help of Zim's parts .
And, yup, once its up I'll be around Mission a lot, looking for stuff for my bike . If not, I'm pretty easy to spot.
EDIT: The "universal side thingy" is the Motrax Indy Spacer, they have some in Mission, as I saw 'em earlier . ____________________ Not here...

Heh, bit of a coincidence about the gearbox oil The indicators sound similar to the ones i bought, small carbon fibre colour, standard bolt fit at the sides. Take the cover off and have a look on the metal bit of the bulb, should say the voltage and wattage. If its not 10v 12w then its a bit of a pisser. i wrote something about it in this faq.

Looks amazing.
How much did it cost you to get it into that condition?
I hope you got out and stabbed the old man who hit you!
