I want to do this to mine, but it's my only form of transport. The previous owner was a lazy **** and left it outside with no cover for months on end.

I think mine is leaking oil a bit, or I think that's what the little oil patches I find underneath it are. Although the tranmission oil level has dropped a bit since I changed it a month ago it's only just now needing to be topped up. So I hope it's just chain oil...

I just hope it stays reliable until I have the money to get something newer and then I can restore it to its former glory.

Looks to me like it's already been restored. It even still has some chrome on the downpipe. I had a shiny downpipe once, in the mid-90s The paint on the frame even looks fine. Head and engine cases a bit corroded but otherwise I'd consider that virtually as new, at least compared to mine

This type of bike does tend to have a lot of owners. I had an RD125LC that'd had 31 previous keepers That's my record. My RXS has only had four - but it was only just over 3 years old when I first got it

An RXS is more reliable than just about anything else on the road, in view of the virtually complete lack of maintenance it can survive on.

Iv only had my RXS since feb this year and im already on my second engine I think there great little bikes. Im slowley restoring mine to its original state, trying to learn about the mechanics of the bike as i go. Its quite a simple bike to learn on too. My main problem atm is deciding what colour to spray it, as i filled the tank up to the very top and then left it on the side stand, the petrol leaked down the side and stripped all the paint with it. It was sprayed by a previous owner a strange purple and he used the wrong paint. Im thinking of either blue or black?

Although I've got nothing to compare with, I'd definitely agree that when stuff does go wrong on the RXS it's generally easy and dead cheap to fix.

I'd go with black over blue personally. There are enough blue and red RXS around. If I were to respray mine I'd most like go with an outrageously bright colour though, just to enhance the amusing nature of the bike

You're not having mine and Andy C just sold his which looked to be in really good nick. Keep an eye out on eBay, there are often good ones on there; there's a nice looking one up for £299 now, but that's in Glasgow. However DO NOT buy without seeing the bike like I did! Possibly the most stupid thing I've ever done...
