How much does your bike cost to run, annually?

Taking in to account the following:

Insurance
Road Tax
Petrol....also, how many miles do you clock up

MOT's and services are not really applicable.

Why arent MOTs and service applicable?

Anyways, I do around 5k per year so not sure exactly of the fuel costs but I get around 10miles to a £1 so maybe around £500ish on fuel.
Tax, however much that is?? £60ish?
Insurance £170ish
service parts £25 ish (no labour)
mot £29
Tyres not every year but averaged out prob £100 a year.

So id say a very approximate £900 (or about £850 without mot and service)

Thumbs Up

I didn't think MOT's to be applicable because it's a standard price, and servicing...well as we both know, a lot of bikers do that them self.

Thanks for the info tho Thumbs Up .

Do about 5000 miles combined on the 125 and 600.

125:
80-90mpg, £15 tax, £120 insurance.

600:
35-45mpg, £48 tax, £375 insurance.

Insured the 250 for a month, only done about 100 miles. Cost about £50 just for insurance and petrol that month.

Thousands.

The fact that I can spend more on 1 shock absorber for my bike, than my mondeos pads & disks (front & back), water pump, timing belt, shock absorber & wishbones & bushes.

Everything is so expensive, it hasn't made it easier having 2 bikes, both inside warranty so both needing dealer servicing. (4000 mile service on my bike was about £120). With the car I buy the parts and a mechanic from work charges me £15 an hour.

Other things are just ridiculous, side fairing Zx9R (Which I dropped), £320. I got a new bumper fully sprayed & colour matched for the Mondeo for £130.

Too much.

SP-1:

£500 insurance.
4000 miles: ~£600 Petrol
Tax: £66

Falco (projected costs):

£0 insurance (2nd bike on policy)
8,000 miles: ~£1000 Petrol
Tax: £66

MOT/Service/Consumables - probably add another £400-500 for the year for both bikes.

Insurance £102
Tax £66
Fuel £2000
-------------------
Total: £2168
-------------------

Tyres £189
Parts £500
Oil £100
Servicing inc MOT £1000
-------------------------------
Total: £1789
-------------------------------

Grand Total: £3957

18,000 miles p.a

Had some big jobs this year, ignition lock, discs front and rear, c&s, rear bearings, and two major services (@15k) fell in the same 12 month period.

The good news is that the Scottoiler has saved me a set of c&s so that's at least £150, and the Metzler Tourance are so durable that I'm now only buying 2 sets of tyres each year and not 3 so that's save me another £200 Smile

929 FireBlade

Insurance - £350
Tyres - £500 ( I go through 2 sets of dunlop roadsmarts on a yearly basis)
Servicing - Major ones I get garages to do on a yearly basis - £300-420
Tax - £65
C&S - £120
Brake pads - £70-80 depending on what I use
Fuel - I do about 10k miles a year. I normally fill up every 100 miles which is about 13... £1300 on fuel i guess
Misc Labour on stuff like C&S and tyre fitting etc £250-£300

So it's roughly £2-2.5k a year

Ins £55 with cash back
Tax £66
Milage i do 9K a year comuting. I get 65 to 70 Mpg and put around 13 ltr in a week to cover the 200 miles. So that varies between £10 & £15 depending on the price at the time.
You have gotta add tyres into your pricing as most bikes wil do at least 1 set a year at approx £100 which is what mine cost.

Compared to the car for the same trip its a good 50% cheaper in all area's

Insurance £230
Tax £66
Mileage about 7k. Say an average of 40mpg, 175 gallons of fuel. At an average of £1.05 a litre about £375.

Gives me a total of £671.

Servicing:

MOT £30
Fitting of two new tyres and adjustment of head bearings £55.
Pair of tyres £84
Oil changed twice, once with filter. Also topped up a few times as it seems to burn halfway down the sight glass then stay there. Say 7 litres, about £33.
Oil filter £3
4 spark plugs £5

So £210 servicing all in. The brakes didn't need doing last year.

25k on an RXS100! thats nearly 100miles a day for a 5 day week Laughing

When I was commuting 40 miles a day on my Vespa it fookin forever and wasn't even that economical as your constantly flat out. That was only for a short period but sitting flat out at 60 with a load of cars lining upto overtake isn't my idea of fun.

Did 57,000 miles on it in 1994 Smile

I have a Vespa PX125 - it's a good 15mph slower than the RXS. The old fossil copes fines with the traffic and still returns 80-90mpg.
