Not heard of this being a common problem but it is an easy fix.
First make sure that the oil is coming from between the water pump and engine, if it is then you need to replace the o-ring.
There is also a little tell-tale hole on the water pump that oil will come out of if the shaft seal is leaking, if this is the problem then you might have to get a new water pump as I cant find it on the parts list (it probably comes as a unit ).
To replace the 0-ring you might not even have to remove the hoses (and be able to keep the coolant in) and only have to take off a few hose clips. Just undo the bolts that secure the housing to the engine and the water pump should pull straight out, it is driven by a slotted shaft. It will become very apparent how it all works when you take it apart.
