Most bikes don't have hazard warning lights so I'd be very very surprised if it failed on that.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I believe the stance is 'if it's there, it will be tested', stick some tape over the hazard lights switch, they can't test it and it will pass as hazard lights are not required on a motorcycle.

My friend's a mechanic for honda, he told me if its standard at time of manufacture it gets tested and mods (eg. cigarette lighter/alarm) get overlooked

That's simply not true.

My bike had it's MOT at the start of this month, i removed the pollion pegs as one was snapped, these are standard, and were not tested.

The lighting on my bike is now 'always on' (i broke the switch in a drop), tape over the switch and it was a pass.

SOME modifications ARE tested in the MOT, for example; my jack-up dogbones were placed down as an advisory that the 'rear suspension has been modified', this means that while it has been modified, it is of a standard that passes the MOT and is placed on the MOT adivisories to cover the MOT test station.

It is perfectly legal to remove all the indicators from a motorcycle and cover up any associated switch gear and get a perfect pass through an MOT with no avisory notices...

Indicators are not a requirement on a motorcycle, but if they are present they will be tested and if faulty, will fail (bulb blown for instance).

The same applies for Hazard Warning Lights, if there is no switch then they cannot be tested; and as they are not required, there is no failure for them not being present. If present and faulty, they will fail.

Also note that an MOT tester is not allowed to remove anything from the bike during the test procedure, this will include the piece of tape you stick over the switch!

All of the above came from the mouth of my MOT tester less than 3 weeks ago, so because it's come from a person in a position of authority on the subject, I will take it as gospel.

I'm pretty sure you NEED pillion footpegs if you have a pillon seat.

Wrong. You can only remove indicators on a bike first used before 1986, or one that is designed for off road use, only carrying the rider. You can remove them off any bike if you mask/remove the headlight and tail light, but you will get an advisory stating that no lights were fitted at time of testing [edit] and I think mopeds aswell

Also note that an MOT tester is not allowed to remove anything from the bike during the test procedure, this will include the piece of tape you stick over the switch!

You're right here, but they do have the right to refuse to test your bike if you refuse to remove covers that they need to remove to carry out tests. [edit] having checked my testers manual, they ARE allowed to remove covers that don't require tools

Like most R6's the flasher relay is under your rider seat, Check the connections are clean in the flashers themselves and on the relay.
If you have after market flashers fitted then that might be half the problem.

Its a long shot... but my R6 03 had a sticky flasher button today.
Pressed it in and they flashed once and then stopped.

I gave it a thump and behold, they are now all flashy again.

Are they LED flashers? If they flash too quick then it might be wearing out the relay, you can buy aftermarket relays to stop this, but lets see what you have fitted first and if its the problem, could be a loose wire yet.

https://i653.photobucket.com/albums/uu256/redtoptigra_2009/Br7eJywWkKGrHqUH-EUEvGGKKUBL1ynJZ35.jpg

don't know if you can see them in this pic.

also the relay must be working if the indicators work its just the hazards don't. and they flash at the right speed.

This is burning my brain, if i had this bike on my bench infront of me heres what i'd do.
Check the fuses, all of them.
Take the switch gear apart and clean the contacts on the flasher controls (direction indi and hazards) and if the problem still persisted Start looking for a broken/corroded connection, still happening then check for a broken wire.

For what is needed/ covered for the MOT read this

https://www.ukmot.com/bike/1-2.asp

For example a speedo does not have to work to pass the mot, my 250 one was not working and it passed. Even after all my years in the trade I did not realise that until last year.
