Hey guys, im a new member. I browse the forums alot and decided to register now Smile

anywhos... the problem..

I have a Honda ns 125F 86 model and i had it running last night perfectly, then today i started it like normal got round the corner and it started to splutter. I then pulled over and it cut out.
I checked the choke and it wasnt on, tried to kick it again with the choke and nothing. I have tried countless times...
So now im thinking are the carbs flooded?
i have taken out the plugg and cleaned it, no blockage in the fuel line either.
I had this problem once before, i cant remember what i did to fix it as i did everything :/....
Anyone have any ideas? cheers.

Hi

Does it have sufficient fuel? Is the fuel filter blocked? Could there be water in the carb (tends to accumulate at the bottom of the fuel tank causing no problems until there is plenty there and you switch to reserve)?

If those points check out OK then get a fresh spark plug and try that.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Unlikely to be water unless you had just switched to reserve.

It could have flooded but that would suggest that too much fuel was flowing. Most likely cause of that (ignoring leaving the choke on) would be a leaking needle valve in the carb. However this would likely cause major problem when you left the bike parked if you didn't turn the petrol off. Sticking floats in the carb can cause the same flooding (often fixed by tapping the carb float bowl a few times with a screw driver handle).

What condition was the plug in before you cleaned it?

All the best

Keith

Hi

Wet plug does suggest rich. It is always worth trying a fresh plug (always worth carrying one with a 2 stroke), as sometimes they can fire OK on view but not under pressure.

However I would be inclined to turn the petrol off (and drain the carb), and with the ignition off and plug out kick the engine over. See if the plug gets soaked again. If so the engine has flooded.

All the best

Keith
