Hello Everyone!
I work for a UK based company and I’m offering a new product which I think may suit some people who visit this forum.
As a biker on a mooch from another forum (CX500) to this one Id just like to say sorry for the plug and I realy would love your feedback (and promise to come back to check!)
The idea behind the product is to offer affordable tracking device. You will be able to view movements of the device in real time on your PC or Smart Phone using an application similar to Google maps.
Im thinking this would be great for touring but also maybe as a secondary anti theft device (or even for a parent to track a youngster on his/her first 125)
Aside from being able to see where your bike is exactly, you can also see where they have been, with timestamps.
The device has an SOS button which sends an alert if pressed and also alerts you if it goes outside a user defined boundry. Should you get an alert you can remotely monitor audio at that location.
Please take a look at https://www.thetrackerpack.com and if you find it interesting please register your interest.
We are not yet taking orders but hope to be offering the service for as little as £30 a month as rental with no upfront costs or contracts.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, like I said sorry about the plug but Im realy looking to hear if you think this is good value for money or if this is something that you would use.
Watch those icy roads!

If I wanted to do this I would rather pay a one off fee for an iPhone/Android/Maemo app to do it, seeing as I already have a GPS device sitting in my pocket. ____________________ H100 Breaking for spares |

Do admit, the monthly bill does seem a bit unattractive, it would put me off buying. I have gps on my mobile for £80 and a free app that lets me track where is it. I think it would be more aimed at the expensive bike market, i wouldnt bother putting one on my bike, certainly not worth it. What about just doing the £5 a month with no initial payment? Would take a while but would still make money eventually ____________________ A2 Passed 18/6/10 |

I've got tracking.
Bought an xda orbit, free download of LocateA software and a tesco sim card, topped it up £20 i think (tesco turns this into £60) about 3 months ago and costs me £2 a week for unlimited internet which keeps the real time tracking stuff online.
Phone is in a pocket on the bike on charge constantly, can be tracked anywhere on the planet and give my customers a tracking code which they enter on my web site to track their packages.
I could set phone to auto answer if i wanted to hear what was going on in its vicinity.
Bonus of having tomtom installed on it so i have backup sat nav and mobile phone on the bike in case i ever need it. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? You can get one of these for around 50 quid and put your own sim card.

I got one on my CBR, it does some nice stuff, like the option of setting a "virtual fence", so if the bike moves in a 5 meters circle it send you messages to your phone to alert you that it's moving.
It also allows sends you the GPS coordinates of the bikes to your phone, and for what I saw in the manual, it can be configured to use GPRS and send your positions to an inet server every couple of minutes.
I use a O2 payg simcard with free SMS, so it doesn't cost me anything to check where I've parked the bike |
