 |
|
Hi everyone,
I've not been out on my bike for about 4 weeks due to the freezing weather we've had! It's currently in the garage but has no coolant in the radiator, only water (quick summary of why: radiator cracked, all coolant leaked, radweld used to seal it hole, filled up with water as no access to coolant at the time).
Will my bike be ok? I don't want to radio to expand/crack again or anything. We've had lower than -10 degrees but it this never occurred to me until the other day...
Thanks,

Put some anti-freeze in as soon as. Not just for the anti-freeze-ness, but also the corrosion inhibition. ____________________ My Flickr |

I was hoping the garage would've gave it some protection for the cold. I think I'll go drain it now to be safe ____________________ My Project - Honda CBR 600 F2/FM |

I'll sort it out tomorrow if I have time. It's too cold and I don't have time at the moment to strip the faring down and drain the water.
What sort of damage could it have caused? ____________________ My Project - Honda CBR 600 F2/FM |

If you have a bottle of water in your garage and it hasn't frozen over the same period you have had the bike in then you will be ok. Many things in garages don't freeze up that would freeze outside. I doubt that you have done any damage to your engine yet, but I would drain the engine and put some anti freeze in it now though.
Don't forget that you need to fill the rad, then turn the engine on and fill it some more, just to get the air locks out.
Let us know how you get on. ____________________ Famous last words of Humpty Dumpty. " Stop pushing me "
