Probably better to have a photo of the other side, where the steering arm actually is.
Basically the spindle through the middle is fixed, and the hub pivots on around the middle of that. The wheel bearing is then massive and goes around the hub.
In theory should work a hell of a lot better than forks. But forks have had loads of makers for well over half a century developing them so have a bit of a head start.
Edit - the 2nd piccy here might give you a better idea.
