Came off the bike for the first time. I was exiting a roundabout, it was just starting to rain and I didn't realise how slick the road was. I accelerated out of the exit, about 20 meters later the rear lost traction completely, tried to correct it, the front lost grip as well and things went sideways. I knew I was going to crash, so aimed at grass on the side and dumped the bike. I took a few seconds laying on my back and was just taken back by the whole thing happening and thinking, this wasn't actually painful at all.

A woman got out of her car and ran over to see if I was alright. Then 2 lads and their dad helped me get the bike up and reattached the back fairing. Very grateful for these folks.
The bike has suffered some damage, bent brake pedal, scratched fairing, handlebar end taken out, mirror blinked smashed. Though the crash bung seemed to do a good job. ____________________ Push bike with a 80cc jerry rigged 2 stroke---> CBR125R ---> GSXR600 ---> Ducati 1098SF |

A guy crashed shortly after overtaking me this morning. entering a roundabout. Similar damage to his zx6r. Gotta make allowances for this weather. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Crash bungs seemed to have done well. Glad you're alright. Also no paint diagram? ____________________ My Flickr |

Glad your crash bungs did work for you this time. For 5 years I had crash bungs on my bike and never needed them, on the one occasion I did come off, it was the crash bungs that caused all the damage - they transmitted the force of the fall straight through to the frame causing it to crack. ____________________ XJ600S->Sprint ST 955i * ; Now ST1100 + W650 |

Ahh these things happen, at least you came off alright and the bung's worked
Pretty sure there is a guy on the GSXR owners page on FB breaking a black K6/K7 600, you might be able to get some replacement cheap used parts off him |

Aye it's worse when it rains after a long dry spell.....the rain draws up grime onto the suraface and it can be pretty treacherous |
+1. When it starts raining, if it hasn't rained for a while, it can be handy to let the rain clean the road for a few minutes before you set off. ____________________ Current bike: K1100RS. No you didn't. It's not in the spill counter, there's no paint diagram, it didn't happen.
Filling in for hellkat here. |
In times of old it was always Joe who did the spill counter. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

Im definitely bruised up all over. Didn't realise how much until this morning when trying to get out of bed.
https://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z467/oscar2227/unnamed_zpsg9pvpdyr.jpg
The brake pedal has been bent, so hopefully I can bend it back. The mirrors I wanted to change anyway (as they're utterly useless and not very good looking anyway). Hopefully no hidden damage but we shall see.
Overall I was impressed with just how helpful people around were. I mean these three guys didn't have to sit there in the rain and try to reattach my fairing.
I always try to make bad events like this a positive, so will learn from it. If it makes me safer on the road in the long run, it was a blessing really. ____________________ Push bike with a 80cc jerry rigged 2 stroke---> CBR125R ---> GSXR600 ---> Ducati 1098SF |
