I had a new rear tire put on during the service and have felt some vibration from it, like it isnt on properly.

could this be because it needs time to wear in and smooth out or could there be a problem with the tire?

(and yes the wheel is bolted on correctly)
thanks

Double check that its on straight.

Also put it on the centre stand and let the wheel spin in gear, see if it jumps about then

Ignore that mechanic, sounds like a fool.
If it didnt do it before then there must another reason, not just 'because its chinese'!

Did you check that it's exactly the same as the old one, i.e. width, profile, tubed/tubeless (and if it's a tube tyre that it is tubed!), radial/cross/bias ply, and - I'm perfectly serious - that he's fitted it the right way around?

im prety sure its the same size, its tubeless, as the original was...and yes, it is on the correct way Thumbs Up

Ive spun it by hand a few times, and from what i can see, the tire rim sits evenly within the wheel rim, but there is on part on the top of the tire which appears to bulge slightly, causing the wobble.

im going to run the tire in for about 2 weeks, and if the problem pursues, take it back to the workshop to get it sorted out.

thanks for all the suggestions Thumbs Up

Did they bother to balance it?

im not sure what they've done to it.
the rollers also had to be changed, and im now finding some vibrations at low revs, shortly after the clutch engages past the biting point, so ill be sure to express my concern if these issues continue in a couple of weeks

If the tyre doesn't run true then no matter where it came from it needs to be looked at. Do a visual test with it on the stand and if it's not running true take it back for them to sort.

Suppliers can't supply you a poor product then blame you for where THEY sourced it from.

You trust someone who tells you that the tyre they fitted poorly is wobbly because they sold you a cheap one?

Wanna buy some magic beans?

Take it back, show them this "buldge" thing.. get them to change it.

Its that simple! My tyre kept deflating after having it put on.. turns out the tyre had a sharp piece of metal on the inside which was popping inner tubes.

New tyre and inner tube ftw.

Mate, take the bike to the dealer show them the wobble, tell them it is either a shit tyre or they did a shit job (neither are your responsibility) and you want it sorted.

Take it back and tell them you've took loadsa photo's of it and recorded in writing all their bullshit, and if you have an accident and die your relatives are gonna sue the shit out of them for incompetence.
Alternatively go to someone who knows what they're doing, buy decent tyres and put it down to experience cos in this life you get what you pay for, cruel but true.

just an update...i took it to the shop today, the mechanic checked it was on the wheel correctly: it was.
so, comming to the conclusion its a defective tire, im giving them a bit extra to have a pirelli tire ordered in, and im getting it fitted for free.

with the pirelli, they are putting my refund on the defective tire (£40) towards the new one, and im gona pay the difference (£26)
...as my old man says "you get what you pay for" Thumbs Up
