hello all
i have as posted a cbr 125 on a 07
i bought the bike from a dealer about 6 months ago and everything is great apart from my chain
i had it replaced by a garage 2 months ago as it had streched as far as it could go
its a heavy duty DID chain and sprocket
its now nearly at its max again im tightening the chain every week and half is this normal?
since buying the bike ive done 2000 miles and use it everyday
im a complete novice on why this could be happening and any help advice would be great

When are you cleaning and adjusting it?

It should have about 2cm - 2.5cm movement.

My CBR did a chain and sprocket set every ~10k...thats with a fair bit of abuse, not so much cleaning Laughing

and how often are you lubing it, i've been recomended to do it every 200 miles and to do it after youve ridden it so the chains warm and it soaks in, dont do it in the morning before you go as you'll just chuck it back off. hth

Do it tighter... aim for about 2cm.

Hows your wheel alignment?

Hi

Sounds like it is wearing far too quickly to me. Wouldn't expect it being slightly loose to make that much difference (too tight would though).

Was it definitely a DID chain and were both sprockets replaced?

All the best

Keith

You may also want to get a mate or someone to check the tension when your sat on the bike, if its really tight when your sat on it you may want to leave a little more slack.

Chain would stretch if it was too tight - try adjusting it to 30mm and see if that makes a difference over 2 weeks.

Have you checked the tension at each 1/4 turn of the wheel to see if its the same, i remember being puzzled for ages with the Z to get the tightness right because it had tight and loose spots.

Try accurately measuring a set number of links, at least 18, and keep a record of it then check again at a later date for stretch.
