Just over 2 years ago I picked A TL1000R up off a mate, it had been stood for 5 years after breaking down and was completely standard bar from the ART cans it had been fitted with.

After a couple of weeks of fettling she was back up and running and I was hooked on the V-twin sound.

After 3 months I had got her looking a bit like this.....

https://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn82/mr_fisty/P1020583.jpg

But after going on a track day I found her lacking in power and she handled like a fat bowl of custard, so the quest began for more power and better handling. I have given up with keeping bikes looking imaculate so this time I wanted to concentrate on making it go better rather than looking new.

First on the list came a power commander 2 and K&N air filter, these helped a little in the power department but she was still lacking.
After a slight incidednt with second gear destroying the engine I rebuilt her with a 1040cc big bore kit and power commander 3.

Pic of her in the rebuild.

After careful Dyno time she was hitting 135bhp at the back wheel. Happy bunny was I!!

Next came suspension....

This month 2 opportunities have come my way a Bitubo rear shock and K-Tech revavled forks. I HAD to have them.

I fitted them today and WOW The bike is like a new one. I cant wait to take it on the track.

And there she is. Finished.

Full list of mods.

1040cc big bore
K&N Filter
Power commander 3 with custom map
Yoshimura RS3 Titanium cans
Goodrige braided hoses
Carbon heel plates and engine covers
Brembo 19x20 radial brake m/c
PT 18 ratio clutch m/c
Folding levers
Bitubo rear shock
Ktech revalved forks, nitride coated
Metzeller racetek tyres
Powder coated wheels
Airblade double bubble screen
Brembo pads all round
Timing retard eliminator
Scotts rotary steering damper
Pyramid hugger
Scottoiler
Speed camera detector
Tracker

I know she isnt the best looking TL in the world but she is mine and I am proud of what I have done on on a very tight budget.

Tom

I "may" have recently purchased a supercharger to fit to a TL Engine, but that is for an entirely different project......

So after saying she was finished I found the tokico 6 pots to be bloody awefull. I have stripped cleaned and unstuck them 3 times so far this year. Sick of doing it I bought myself this little set up from ebay.....

https://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn82/mr_fisty/IMG_0020.jpg

Billet aluminium brackets with GSXR750 calipers, havnt bled them up yet but they fit beautifully. I hope they work well. I think I may get them anodised black as they are far too shiny for my liking.

Then today these beauts arrived in the post.....

Stunningly well made Gilles rearsets.

And thats it. Job jobbed. Im spending no more on improving this bike! Well unless a true bargain crops up....

PS sorry for the shitty pictures, camera is on the blink!

The mounts look bloody awful but I suspect the brakes are miles better. Personally just can't stand a bracket on a bracket situation.

Did you use the matching master cylinder? I would think the TL one would have a different ratio

Imn not a fan of the bracket on bracket situation myself, Im hoping to paint them the same colour of the forks to disguise them a bit. Im using a brembo 19x20 radial master cylinder.
