Hate asking dumb questions
Basically 0l0dom0l0 has been a gem and sent me a 110 70 17 tyre for the rear of my 125.
Thing is... its a Bridgstone BT***F (dont know the model) Does the F mean front.. If so should I remove it from the tyre or leave it? Its a tubed rim a tubeless tyre, bare in mind this is just to get a years ticket on it.. its not being used all the time...rough weather/winter etc...
Also, in terms of rust... general surface rust is alright yeah? I've never really had an MOT on any bike.. never had them long enough
Everything else works, lights, plate is legal, horn I will double check... but the engine has just been rebuilt.. so hoping it lives
The rear shock isnt "bouncy" its pretty stiff but does compress etc, is there a set limit?

When i took the bike in for a leaky tyre seal, he put a tube in the tubless tyre. He MOT'd it at the same time no probs. HTH ____________________ Eat well, poo hard

At a guess, Bridgestone battlax BT45F?
In which case, yes it's a front and no it shouldn't pass its MOT with a front tyre on the rear.
That said, this is assuming they notice.
It's fine with a tube in though.
Another point. If it's a BT45, it's a bias belted tyre. It's flat-out illegal to have a bias belt rear with a radial front. This more than anything would fail an MOT so if the front is a radial and the rear is a BT45, it's illegal. If there is an 'R' in the size code of the front tyre, it's a radial (eg 90/90R17). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I was unaware the tyre says front use only Can I remove this with a bit of skill and attempt to get it through the MOT. If so what methods?
Its only to get a years MOT on it, then its getting its more offroad tyres put back on.
Also its a 110 70 R 17 |

a) those are different manufacturers, not necessarily different construction types and
b) *should*, not "will".
It's actually potentially quite dangerous. Back when I were a kid...

Just being picky now.. but whats the difference between the front and rear fitment... does it really affect it that much?
I could POSSIBLY get a 100 80 17 from my CBR on the back... but thats major effort

Bikes going in for MOT in like half hour... shall let you know the outcome..
I have ridden it up and down the road, figured insuring it would be safer than doing nothing at all Handles ok, the rear tyre went on ok being a 110 70 rather than a 100 90.
Unsure of what pressures to run, front felt squishy at 30psi.. maybe im used to riding a sports bike with solid suspension...but the front was a little soft
Hoping it passes, they passed my "CBR" with wires everywhere, looked terrible, had angle grinder marks over the front and bodged cables... Obviously sending my bike to the same place |

Failed.
Left handle grip loose.
Shock pivot mount siezed.
Rear tyre incorrect spec.
The handle grip is sorted, the shock has been removed and greased/cleaned and reinstalled. Now for the rear tyre |
