There is a brass plate fitted to the carb where the airbox inlet is fitted but its not there as a restriction, its there to cause a negative pressure in the inlet manifold and shouldnt be removed unless your doing more than a normal derestriction.
You need to remove the washer from the variator like youve done, remove the resonator pipes from the exhaust and weld up the holes, then upjet it.... It should now do a clock speed of about 50-55mph
Being a stalker which is a update of the SKP it should already have the Dellorto 17.5mm carb not the older 14mm weber... If so it will have a 53 main fitted as std but needs a 60... which will also stop the whiteness on the end of the standard exhaust |

k and n filter might help, but you would have to rejet the carb, otherwise it will run lean and seize |

No if its a race exhaust it wont have a resonator pipe... Did you fit the pipe?? If so... did you make sure there wasnt a restrictor tack-welded into the downpipe to make it E-marked??
I would stay clear of open filters on 2 strokes, especially at this time of year as they hate the damp... Yes it will need upjetting if you fit a open filter but it will need to be much bigger than a 70, however no-one will be able to tell you what size as it varys... last DNA i fitted one to went from std 53 to a 105
If you want to improve the airflow a little then take the rubber inlet snorkle out of the airbox, youll need to upjet to suit |

yes i have i took the variator cover off got a variator tool and took the variator off and got the washer off. I also had the pipe fitted with rollers. but it reaches 35mph then dies seems weird to me aswell lol does the pipe have a slight restriction in it even though it is a sports pipe? |

If you took the ring off on the variator and its only doing 35mph theres something wrong for sure.
Take the exhaust off and make sure theres no restrictor on the downpipe... what make of pipe is it??
Also make sure you have upjetted it or it will be killing itself everytime you start it up |

Yes he's saying you need to upjet or the motor will seize because it's running dangerously lean. UPJET UPJET UPJET! ____________________ My Flickr |

i have a 2004 stalker. i put a leo vince zx exhuast on it and have upjetted from the standard 53 to a 60 jet.
im getting around 40mph at the moment but hoping can get more when i upgrade the rollers (dont no what weight any ideas) cluth springs and variator spring (all on ebay) hoping to get quicker speed once all this is done.
btw if u dont upjet the piston goes threw the roof of the engine (no from experiance) so defo upgrade from a 53 upto 60 jet! ____________________ gilera stalker 50cc going on gsxr 1000 i hope |
