clutch problem?

the bike rolls like its in neutral through all the gears . do I need a new clutch or is it a bigger problem?

Hi

Even with very worn plates I would expect more resistance than in neutral.

Take the front sprocket cover off and check that the output shaft is actually turning. It is possible for the teeth to wear away totally so the chain just slips on the sprocket, and also for the splines on the sprocket to wear out.

Also possible that the clutch is wrongly adjusted and stopping it working. Not sure on the SRAD, but on earlier GSXRs the cable goes to the sprocket cover, and there is a small adjuster screw under a cover there as well. It this is tightened up then it will push on the clutch operating rod whatever you do with the cable (even disconnecting it).

Does it 'clunk' into gear properly?

Has the chain snapped and come off?

Is it literally no more resistance when in gear than without? Or is there some resistance, just not as much as there should be.

As Keith said, check the front sprocket, see if it's turning, and see if the chain's gripping the teeth properly.

The sprockets are good I just changed them and that might lead me to suspect the clutch pin maybe it the clunking part Im not sure Ill go test it and see. thanks to all who can give me their helpful wisdom. Very Happy

It clunked one time and then its hard to even get it out of nuetral now .

when I was pushing it home last night it felt like there was no difference when it was in any gear.

Hi

I would guess that it is the clutch pushrod then. Possibly not seated correctly when you put the sprocket cover back on after changing the front sprocket.
