Hey,

I'm having a couple problems with my XR250. It stalls when setting off unless I give a huge amount of revs.

I put it up on the stand and started to fiddle around. The back wheel spins freely when it is in neutral but if I put it in gear and pull the clutch in then the wheel wont move (I can put a bit of effort in and it will move, but not freely).

At first I thought it could be that the clutch cable needed adjusting but even if I pull the 'arm' that sticks out of the clutch casing up as far as it goes, same problems.

Any ideas guys? I could really do with getting this sorted ready for the snow!

Cheers
Ed

Try adjusting the cable first.
Clutch is a fairly easy-ish job to do though.
Parts are maybe more of a headache as you really need to replace the whole lot.

Have a look at the clutch basket pics on the 'Show & Tell' page where Waffles has put up pics of the worn surfaces in the post about the XR drinking too much oil.

This may or may not have been causing the difficulty with selecting neutral with all of the cable adjusters set up correctly.
