I did an oil change on my bike, new filter etc just putting it to bed for a couple of months now I bought Motul 5100 10w 40w (ester) 4T technosynthese oil and stuck a litre in proceeded to put the other litre in when I got to around 400ml I realised it was motul 300v factory line double ester 10w 40w 4T 100% synthese racing oil..
just nervous that this will feck things up or is it ok to mix I have not started the engine so can I just empty it out and put another new filter on, or is it safe to leave it in. any help would be much appreciated |

Personally don't like mixing oils, but that's a personal thing. Is the first one you've put in fully synth as well?
If so then leave it, if it's a semi synthetic, or mineral oil I'd definately drain and refill. ____________________ My Flickr |

If both oils are synthetic or semi-synth, personally I'd leave it as it is...
but if one of them is labelled as mineral oil I'd drain and refill
I'm no technical guru, but I've read that mineral and synth doesn't mix well?? ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Semi synthetic oils are a mix of synthetic and mineral, so mixing in some other either other type won't do any harm. Diluting expensive synthetic oil with mineral would be kinda silly though. ____________________
