Rather than making a new thread ... Rolling Eyes
Anyone heard about or own the HJC CS-14?
It's either fairly new or Sharp has gotten slack, because it doesn't have a rating.

They can't find Guernsey postcodes, so although they say CI Delivery £14.95, it may not happen (been 3 weeks so far).

3 star sharp.

OK helmet. I crashed in it and survived so a Thumbs Up from that perspective.

Visor mists up really easily as a Thumbs Down and it's very loud at motorway speeds.

Wouldn't buy another for the price. I've just ordered a HJC ZF-10 and BOX BX-2R from there which are both 4 star ratings for less added together than what I paid for the CS-14 alone.

My order was supposedly dispatched yesterday. Paid through PayPal, accepted my address. No problems so far. Hopefully the helmets arrive soon.

All three helmets I ordered arrived today, although my order on their site still says processing! Surprised

2x HJC CS-12N Session - £20 helmets, both fit very well.

1 x BOX BZ-1 Hazard Blue - £39.99

Well packed and so glad they finally came.

Ridiculously low price makes the delay worthwhile. Smile

I caved and decided to upgrade, only had my Box bx5 since october but it looks a bit beaten and I really didn't take good care of it.

Decided (even though i'm skint) it was worth getting a new one so ordered the Box fz-1, fibreglass with pinlock and built in sun visor for £50.

doesn't score too well on sharp but not convinced on their methods.

on a side note, is fibreglass better than polycarbonate or does it make no difference?

Seems the fz-1 in medium is about £120 elsewhere. So not bad. Came today and it's much better than my bx5

Whilst i would tend to agree that your head is worth ivesting money in to protect, a 3 star £20 box lid is no worse than a 3 star £450 Arai.

Its not the money that counts, its the construction of, and more importantly imo, FIT of a lid that count.

Sure? Second hand but I guess only little used Wink Very Happy

On topic nothing wrong with a cheap lid as must meet the approval regulations as the expensive kit. In practice I have found it is the fit, the padding (some compresses more and quicker than others), wind noise (nothing you can find out about for you/your bike until after purchase). The wind noise is perhaps less in more expensive lids as they put more into materials, testing and development.

There is also the build quality. For example saw a cheap helmet (well £50) today. The lining didn't have cut out for the ears and flat speakers. Spend a little more and one did. Spend a little more and the padding and shell was designed to take an intercom. Guess that would be a comfort and/or choice issue. However, not the sort of refinement you could get just by purchasing blind off the internet. You'd have needed to see and try the helmet(s) first.

Thumbs Up

I wouldn't bother with them again to be honest.

Made an order last week which said was in stock and would be despatched for next day delivery. 4 days later and no helmet!...decided to email them, no answer. Re-emailed them next day, got a reply to say it was being sent out and I would receive it today by Citylink! Asked the missus if she could hang about for courier (its her day off)...decided to give them a call just to double check the tracking number , they told me it HADN'T gone yesterday afterall as it wasn't in stock...and that it would go today.

I dunno, I think this company just lies and makes it up as they go along. They blatantly sell items on their website that they simply don't have in stock (even though they say they are).

All round bad experience.

Counter that with an order I just placed at Newitts for some cones...placed order at 10am, got confirmation at 10.05 and got despatched email at 10.15. Now that's proper customer service. Not some chimp making things up when they know they don't have stock in)

I guess there's the reason why LidsDirect are cheap, you just don't know if or when its going to arrive.

Sure the release mechanism isn't just partially disengaged? Try taking the visor off and then putting it back on again.

HJC by any chance? They all do that, mister.

Just return it under the Distance Selling Regulations, don't get into an argument about whether it's defective or not. There's no provision in there for them refusing because it's a safety item (there probably should be, but there isn't).

I just received my HJC IS-11 from them. I ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. Thumbs Up I can't fault that kind of service.

It cost me £99 and some are being sold for £218 on ebay Shocked

Oh and yes, the visor shuts leaving a small gap but will shut completely if you push it firmly shut.

do HJC's fit the same size as AGV's?

cause there's nowhere really local to me where I can try on HJC's and I have an AGV K4 Large which fits perfectly, want to assume I'm ok to order an HJC large off there and it fit "well" also...
