Hi all I'm a little stuck on what maybe my problem I replaced my centre gasket as was leaking with gasket seal paste but when I put the cases together I finger tightened the bolts up and the crank had so much resistance wtf lol It was ok before is it due to using gasket seal paste or could it be something else just to add when the gearbox side was removed the crank has play init not the big bearing I actually mean it wiggles like there's room on the crank bearing (flywheel side) is this a possible problem ( no play when case is together though) sorry if this is a little confusing any info/ help be great if any other info needed I can get whatever is needed for an answer Very Happy thanks in advance

Hi

The sealant will possibly cause issues as it is thinner than the gasket. This might well put a load of extra side loading on the main bearings (note that on the RS you are meant to pull the crank into the crankcase half, not push the crankcase half onto the crank).

All the best

Keith

Hi thanks Keith I was hoping you would say that iv got a new gasket on order il see what happens if it's the same any other ideas like I said was ok tight before and free turning? Also if the transmission sprocket seal fails would I get a small leakage of gear oil because iv changed the centre gasket 3 times and still leaks lol only other place I can think would leak gear oil?

Regards

Hi

Could be. But also an over full gearbox will likely push out out of the breather hose.

All the best

Hi

There is a level plug on the clutch cover. Best to use that rather than trying to measure it in.

Worn crank seal might pressurise the gearbox and push oil out of the breather (although normally it will suck oil into the engine and burn it).

All the best

Keith
