Just clean it up... that looks absolutely awesome.

Get it cleaned and mechanically sorted, that will be a fantastic bike.

I'd still be stripping the motor. That many years , bearings have just sat there, possibility of it rusting the crank bearings (My RS stood for 1 year and had a rebuild just before it was laid up, bearings collapsed from being old)

Watching this with interest though Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Nooo.

It was stored, they got rusty, can only assume moisture had crept in through breathers or such like.

Either way that was 1 year, this is 12 Laughing

They do if they are used after being allowed to get rusty. Two stroke engines are always open to the elements because a port is pretty much always open. If stored in a damp garage, the bearings could well be rusted and damaged, then using the engine could cause the bearings to collapse.

Well, just be aware that when you start 'er up for the first time bad things could happen. If the atmosphere was very dry, and the engine internals weren't slathered in two stroke oil then the seals could have gone dry and perished. This means you'll end up burning gearbox oil...

Basically a two stroke sat for 12 years will be pretty much ruined, and will need a rebuild.

Hi

An early Sintesi. 1988 model one (quite likely registered in 1989).

The seat lock and petrol cap lock should have the same key. Note that there are a couple of different petrol caps which at a glance look VERY similar. If you can get the cap off you should be able to remove the lock from the cap to make it easy to get a key copied.

Rotax / Aprilia did have an issue with main bearings failing when parked up over winter and then used again. They changed the spec of the bearings used to avoid this. Think the early ones were not meant to have a major issue with this though.

Good luck getting the fuel gauge to work if the tank is all clogged up.

As a road test said, the stickers on the forks probably looked like that from people trying to peel them off and put them on the right way up. From memory they were the first road bike sold with USD forks.

The dynamic airbox is just directing cool air at the intake to the real airbox. The air filter is oiled foam, but check it hasn't rotted away by now.

The tail lights quite often seem to break the small mount at the bottom.

Remember to use high octane petrol (unless you want a hole in the piston).

All the best

Keith

That is pure porn, will definitely watch where this goes! I've only ever seen two in the flesh and they're just the pure sex, a wet dream for most on learner plates.
