Hello,

Several questions about winter:

I've got Lithium-Iron-Phosphate(LiFePo) battery. Somewhere read that Lithium batteries are better stored not fully charged.

1. If I remove the battery from the bike and keep it in the house without charging for 3 months is that fine for the battery?

2. If I start the bike each week without riding for say 5-10 minutes does this charges the battery? My question is shall I leave the battery on the bike for 3 months doing weekly engine runs?

thanks

They are best stored unused, so I would take it off the bike.

Or: https://londonbikers.com/news/25490/optimate-lithium-the-worlds-1st-lithium-ion-battery-optimiser

Which isn't cheap by any stretch.

Don't start the bike for 5-10 minutes.
The engine will only get wet internally as it will not get warm enough to drive off moisture from combustion.
If you are going to run it run it until the fan comes on then switches off, give the throttle a blip or three to clear it's throat of unburned petrol (and shit) then shut it down.
Also, the energy taken from the battery for the start cycle will need to be replaced and an alternator needs a bit of RPMs to effectively charge a battery. Over 2000RPMs A figure I just plucked out of the air there..

Get an optimizer.
Good ones are not cheap but cheaper than a couple of new batteries. Smile

C-Tek are the best that I've used. And I've burned out two Optimates. And two Hien Gericke optimizers.
