Take the forks and bars off the blown up one and fit them to the not blown up one. If you disconnect the speedo drive, wiring, clutch and throttle cables and un-bolt the bar clamps you might be able to pull out the forks from the yokes and just slide the whole front end assembly out of one set of yokes and into the other.

Yes it's loads easier. To change the engine you have to disconnect all hoses and wiring, cables, airbox, exhaust, sprocket cover, front sprocket (unless you can get the chain off with the sprocket on), remove engine bolts on BOTH bikes, then man-handle the engines out and one back in before re-fitting everything. Front forks just drop out of the yokes by un-doing the pinch bolts.

The biggest 'issue' has been taking the bar ends off, as one was badly crossthreaded on the bent bike and resulted in a hack saw!

Plus . . . Hobbit is is still out there trying to remove the heated grips from the engine bike! Super glued apparently!

Aside that it has been relativly simple.

From what I can see the forks in the bent bike are absolutly fine! The only problem is a bent handle bar which gave the illusion of agreater issue. So £300 for a bike with a bent handle bar and some scuffs was a steal Smile

Still. . it is almost dark (we have no garage) and he has done brill.... Next weekend will put the forks and bars from engine bike on bent bike and away.

The enginer bike can become a project... take engine out.. look at damage etc.. might be worth repair and sell Smile

I'd be inclined to build a working one out of whichever has the lower mileage/is newer. Simply because then it'd have a better resale value.

Engine bike has lower milage by 3k but condition not nearly as good.
