Just WHY!

When I do insurance quotes and I tell them I'm a Race director at a track I get charged an extra £200 a year!

I said that I wouldn't be commuting to work on it so I have no idea why they should charge me extra? Whats the extra risk?

Because you're connected with people that like to go fast - presumably they've looked at their stats and the group you fall in to is one a lot more likely to have a claim for whatever reason.]

I always bend the truth slightly and try picking other ways of describing my job to see if it goes any cheaper. Usually it doesn't as i have about the most boring job possible
e.g if you deal with the accounts put yourself down as office admin or accounts, perhaps try just generic 'manager' ?

Tiger makes around £220 difference and go compare seems to not make too much difference, if anything It makes me ride slower and more methodically but its not me who makes the quotes so I guess that's irrelevant.

Just trying to find different names for race director or manager and try and get under that, annoying when it asks for the sector though, tough to get around that.

Certain professions and some hobbies etc tend to attract higher premiums purely due to their "assessed risk"

I changed mine from insurance to 'data administrator' and it dropped a fair bit off. To be fair data administrator is prob more accurate as i work in the IT department
