Ybr issues

hi guys bought a 06 ybr125 off a friend in dorset (had to ride it back 300 miles!) for £700 and i've had a few issuea with it. At first it was very hard to change gear. By the time i got home the gears felt better but still shit so i replaced the oil which cured the issue. Next the bike wouldn't start properly and i noticed it had the wrong spark plug so i bought another and it then started straight away. Problem is the bike sometimes doesn't start for a while and takes a good few trys to get it going. my mate said wd40 down the ignition usually fixes the issue Any ideas why that could be? Also today there was a large pop/flash and the fuel indicator stopped working. Oh and it won't start unless i use the choke, i then need to ride with the choke on for a bit for i to stay running. Solutions to these problems will be really appreciated

Try taking the carb off and give it a clean with some carb cleaner might not be the problem but wouldent hurt it to give it a good clean with carb cleaner

Always needed choke on my old YBR for a few minutes before it would idle normally. Not a problem.

Il try the carb cleaner for the choke problem. Any suggestions for the starting problem?

Clean your air filter and play with choke settings when starting with mine i had to apply the choke in slightly different positions to get a good start rather than off/on with practice you will get used to it.

And as also mentioned i had to run with the choke on untill it warmed up or it would bog down and stall..

Yes i think there could be crap in the carb if the filter is just a mesh, that may stop the odd leaf going in but not crap that will block your jets.

seems like your going have the carb off to clean it out and the jets reasemble and get a proper airfilter in there !

As the carb has been running an ineffective filtering medium,
perhaps the idle circuit air bleed passage should be your first priority once the carb has been removed from the bike.

Clean all other jets and internals with carb and choke cleaner to remove any stale fuel deposits if present.
