Here is my Ducati 916 Biposto which I picked up last night and I am thrilled with it. Only had a little chance to ride it but it does go some and I can't wait to get back on it. My Dad and bro can't wait to have a go either, just sitting there waiting to be ridden.

I got some pics of it earlier, but in the shed. Took them whilst it was raining. I took it out for a while and have just got back and got some more pics, they really don't do it justice, have to get a good camera/photographer or see it in the flesh Cool

The bike came with alot of extras, some below including rear paddock stand, standard shock, disks, pads, this and that really. Here's the 1st set of exhausts that came with it, 54mm, believed to be for 996/998? (standard)

https://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1334/sdc10568w.jpg

Then the second set of exhausts, termignoni or not termignoni, that is the question - to fit 916.

https://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5522/sdc10570l.jpg

Then all the carbon extras, I think they are heal plates, swingarm cover, chain guard and exhaust guard and speedo surround, all real carbon fibre too.

https://img6.imageshack.us/img6/4038/sdc10571s.jpg

More pics:

https://img2.imageshack.us/img2/7003/sdc10587.jpg

https://img2.imageshack.us/img2/7739/sdc10588iii.jpg

Does anyone know how much the standard exhausts to fit 996/998 (I think) how much they might go for?

Same with all the carbon fibre bits pictured, I have no idea, they are all real carbon fibre too. Also unsure on the 'termignoni exhausts'.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, finished my exams and as a present my mum bought me and my bro a trackday at brands. First trackday for us both n was nervous, got there n everyone with their track bikes etc, us taking off our numberplates and taping up our mirrors lol. We had our own pits too.

Was a really good experience n I got the bug, I wanna go back already. Was in the novice group but was really suprised, some people looked like they had never been on a bike before. I had my knee down on quite a few of the corners, and was a first to get my left knee down too.

Had a good few races n was one of the better people in the group, overtaking quite alot. Had a race with 2 r1s, did me on the straight (just) and I done them on the corners. Second run out and two people came off at different times. One of them, coming up to a corner, crapped it and went straight, locked up and off in the gravel. The other crash was around that corner but went wide.

Anyway....here's some pics. First 2 are the pro pictures I bought.

https://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6355/sdc11282f.jpg

And a couple of vids:

In this Vid, if you freeze frame, after the first bike, is my bro on his black r6. After that pack goes past is a red fireblade and then me, was like that for 3 laps. I did him on the corners but he did me on the straights (just)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ux-aZ2o9L4

In this vid is my bro first, then me at about 13 secs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WojKpFhkzTU

Was a wicked day, can't wait to do another :hello:

Lovely machine. How much did it set you back?

Not sure what the point of owning a ducati is if you don't fit some aftermarket cans. Razz

I don't think the stock cans will be worth anything at all ... who wants stock cans for any bike?!!?! Wink

Also if you ever do a trackday, you are going to need those cans to get through noise regs Sad

Thanks adama, I've always wanted a Ducati and in no other colour than red. Will keep it tidy Cool

Bluey bluey blue, there is the stock cans on the bike, THEN the stock 996/998 (54mm) cans and the carbon fibre exhausts.

People are after standard cans if theirs are damaged or don't have any at all, I think the 54mm cans can be put on a 916 but not straight fit (not sure).

As above about the trackday, there's 3 sets of exhausts Wink

Anyone know how much all the stuff in the picture of carbon fibre is worth? Anyone interested?

Ah, I got the wrong end of the stick there ... I thought they were the stock cans you had taken off to put the carbon ones on ... Embarassed

All you can do is look at completed auctions on eBay and see what they have been historically been going for ....

If you get a couple of people that are desperately after some and start bidding, then they are worth something. If you don't then sadly they are worthless.

Most people will replace crashed damaged exhausts with nicer looking NEW aftermarket ones (not 2nd hand stock ones) ... especially as many have removable baffles these days.

Noooooo Mad Laughing

I'll keep an eye on them but might bung them on there anyway as they are worthless to me.

Cheers big ham, I intend to keep it clean and not let it go either Wink The previous buyer wanted to keep it to sell on in years to come.

Thanks Barry, jealous? Razz

Mord, yeah they nice bikes too, I was just set on a 916 though, but I wouldn't mind having a go on a 996/998.

Yes! Laughing

I only had mine for a year and then it was mainly a track bike. Although had a little use on the road.

I loved how light it was and how easy you could throw it around.

If (when) I do get another it will be the 998. I'm not keen on the 999 looks, and I dont want to spend £10k on a 1098 for it to never get any use!

Here's my old 916...

Very mint and smart looking bike.

First thing I'd say is invest in some crash bungs or better tyres and you'll thank yourself later on... well bungs for any eventuality such as a low speed sidestand drop etc... Dunlop 207 in wets on a big V-twin is asking a lot from such a wooden tyre (irrespective of what >600cc bike you have).

Very nice Barry, I want to do a track day but will probs take the CBR instead, wouldn't want to bin the Duke.

Thanks titz, I won't be getting crash bungs on there but will get a different set of tyres when needed, they are both brand new at the moment, when I get a bit of cash I'll change them. The tyres not good then I take it?

There's probably a sidestand mod lurking about on Ducati forums so I'll have a look for that.

Fitted the termignoni's the other day:

Thought I'd dig up an old thread Razz

Have owned the Duc now for 4 years and thought I'd update this thread.

It took a lot of getting used to from when I was just used to the CBR but it's nice to have something different to ride when I fancy it.

I'm still on the hunt for a set of genuine termignoni exhausts which aren't just stickered carbon exhausts.

The bike has been great and I had the suspension set up up ProTwins which has made quite a difference. Turns out the WP shock, the spring was a bit too oversized for what should have been put on but he managed to set it up well still.

I did a track day at Brands Hatch on it which was fun and scary at the same time! On approaching druids coming up the hill I had overcooked it, was heavily braking but then had to go into the gravel. Luckily it stayed upright and no damage Embarassed

https://img12.imageshack.us/img12/941/img2569.png

Since owning the bike I've had no problems...so far? Razz It's been reliable for me since owning it, only thing that I've had to change is the chain and sprockets. It's had the belts done every 2 years but no 'expected' electrical faults which has been nice.

Last year one of the exhaust protectors came off somehow as it's welded and it's always been on my to do list. So yesterday I needed to take the end cans off then just the next section of the exhaust.

Well...kind of got carried away Laughing and removed the entire exhaust except the headers then went on a big cleaning spree. The exhaust will be getting welded this week so the bracket can go back on. I'll leave the pictures do the talking and I'll update this thread soon.

Shock, before (hadn't done the frame, peg area yet)

Exhaust part 2 after:

https://imageshack.us/a/img28/6928/5exhaust1after2.jpg

This is the reason I took the exhaust off, this bracket is broken:

https://imageshack.us/a/img600/838/7exhausttobewelded.jpg

End can 1, before:

https://imageshack.us/a/img850/4118/8exhaustbefore.jpg

End can 1, after:

https://imageshack.us/a/img707/966/8exhaustafter.jpg

End can 2, before:

https://imageshack.us/a/img15/1897/9exhaustbefore2.jpg

End can 2, after:

https://imageshack.us/a/img823/1269/9exhaustafter2.jpg

All parts before:

https://imageshack.us/a/img40/7704/10alltogetherbefore.JPG

All parts after:

https://imageshack.us/a/img32/5299/10alltogetherafter.jpg

So when I get the exhaust welded I'll put it all back on until I find some termignonis, so if you hear of any, please let me know Razz

Can a 916 wheelie without spitting oil like the 748 ?

It's the only reason I don't currently own a 748, might try the 916.
