The red one coming from the fuse normally goes to the starter solenoid. That's your main live feed.
The brown one could be almost anything, as could the 9 pin (lights, bar controls, ignition...). I'd connect up the red one, and see what doesn't work. And yes, you really do need a multimeter. ____________________ Honda Goldwing GL 1000 Current love

Thanks for the advice/replies.
Here's a photo of the electrics in question:

Not the clearest photo but hopefully you can spot the loose red (which I believe should be attached to a spade connector which is then plugged into the point just below the blue fuse).
The loose brown (top, middle) goes to the front of the bike so either I need to find the damned multimeter (God, my shed is a mess!) or as Efes123 suggests connect what I can up and see what doesn't work.
The white 9 pin plug (bottom right of photo, 8 pins actually connected) is still bit of a mystery. As it goes to the rear lights could it possibly be for some form of relay unit?
Also wary of connecting my aftermarket ebay ignition after reading some comments from people who have had to rewire after blowing their fuses (another reason to find the multimeter).
Cheers all. |
