Cocked up a bit and all oil out. Have either Halfords Diesel 10w/40 or cheap mineral 10w/30 and no opportunity to get something else.

I change every 1K currently.

I suspect 10w/40 Diesel will be nearest to spec.

Advice please. All oil is currently out. Including filter.

Thanks

For the CBF right?
I would use the 10-30 to be honest, then sort out some decent stuff for it when you get a chance.

I'd use either. At this time of year the viscosity difference is going to be negligeable.

The diesel stuff will have a higher level of detergent in than standard oil. Can't see why this would be a problem.

It was the ER6. I plumped for the diesel after a google, which suggested as above, there wasn't a lot in it. Just more detergents. I'll change it again in 1k 'ish and buy some proper stuff. Castrol 4T seems as good as anything.

I dropped all the oil and changed the filter so I know it's all good. I wasn't expecting it to be quite as black for only about 1K done on that oil. We'll see how it goes on this.

I don't mind changing the oil more regular than necessary, it's the cheapest/easiest way of keeping the engine in good order for not a lot.

I've used petrol and diesel ones, doesn't really seem to do much different. Better than no oil.
